Serious question: how do they keep the chips from going soggy/tasting stale?

I've had potato chip cookies, and they can be good. But GTFO with your damn chocolate chips.

Pretzels and caramel on fudgy brownies are great.

Don't mess with my Tollhouse, boy.
On the other hand, my youngest was mad for a little candy store's Pringles half-dipped in dark chocolate. I tasted one. Yuck.
The same store that had a wooden cabinet in the middle of the shop. My young daughter opened it, and gasped. The candymaker said, "No, honey. Those are for adults. They sure were. Damn,

Axeofjudgement: Hey Claire upgraded from mayo to potato chips!

My mother is a terrible cook.  She recently attended a neighbor's cookout and was amazed at how moist the guy's burgers were.  His secret?  He puts a bunch of mayo in the meat.  Not sear them and reduce temperature or simply cook them low and slow.  Mayo.  So now my mother does it, my dad still grills them on high, and they think it's genius.

Wtf?

For burgers I'll add an egg for about every pound or pound in a half of meat. It does keep it moist. But I'm not using mayo as a binder for burgers.

Then again when I'm feeling especially lazy or too many people. I'll use packets of lipton onion soup mix in the beef too. About the same ratio as egg.

Someone had posted 'white trash' bars on here. I tried them and they were a little over done in my convection oven. The salt was a nice touch though. Anyway, it was Ritz cracker crumbs rather than potato chips which I think would make a better salty addition.

Despite the prevalence of salt and sweet combinations, each new one will be met by gasps of shock and awe around here.

Yeah, that was a solid flavor.

I've definitely sprinkled ice cream at home with some crushed potato chips. And I may have been high at the time. But damn it's a nice little salty kick.

So I read this comment before I read the article thinking "shut your whore mouth, Claire Saffitz would never do this." I was relieved when I clicked and saw a different Claire was responsible for this.

I'm not sure about potato chips in cookies, but it did spark the idea to add freshly cooked bacon bits to them.

Little late to the thread, but as much as I wanted to like it, I really wasn't a fan.  The chip pieces were more chewy than anything, and imo didn't add much if anything to the ice cream.  Was like eating ice cream with chunks of really bland caramel.

But to be fair I only tried it once, could've just been a pint that was left to partially thaw then set to refreeze.

"Why mix in walnuts when you can use potato chips instead?"

Walnuts stay crunchy, chips don't
Walnuts add healthy fat, chips do the opposite
Walnuts add unique flavor, chips add saltiness

Why add spinach to a smoothie when you can use microwaved green gummy bears?!??1!11!
