Japan to 19 year olds: It's illegal for you to smoke! So go have irresponsible sex with schoolgirls instead.

Forty-seven trainee officers of a police academy in western Japan have been subjected to up to three months of disciplinary action for underage drinking and smoking or facilitating such behavior.

3 months?! But they'll be out of the academy by then! What do you mean that other countries' police academy lasts more than a few months?

During this period, the students will engage in cleaning up school facilities on their days off. They will, however, still attend classes on weekdays so their scheduled graduation in January will not be affected.

They will also fight demons that pass through the magical well that links to the Feudal Era.

It's a good thing they weren't expelled and have to start again the next semester.

I've read the tale of the 47 Ronin and it doesn't end well for them.

Why? How many ronin are needed to fix the cable?

Well, they'll just have to be content with tentacle sex and stuffing their butts with eels.

That's a weekend thing, and it's only Thurs... aw, crap, it's Sunday.

Fine, but only the salt-water ones; the fresh-water eels are much tastier.

Individually or as a group? Cause if it's as a group that was prolly a fun party.  If it's individually Japan got some depressed police trainees.

47.  One to hold the line, one to find the problem, one to make the repair, and forty four to commit seppuku for allowing the cable to fail in the first place.

I thought they were fighting the ghost that haunts the bathroom there?

They aren't even out of the academy yet and they already think the law doesn't apply to them. Great!

Disciplined? How about kicking them out on their asses?

I guess laws are for suckers and cops are above all that.

Eh. I thought it was a meeting to find that one truck and finding ways to keep the main characters from running in front of it.

Just show proper respect to it, like the Koreans:

It's been thirty years and I can't remember the details but one guy in boot camp found the butt of a cigarette and a match. Not only was he caught in this feeble endeavor but it was decided that this represented a failure of the whole platoon. I don't think we really held it against him, at that point you're going to get worked out everday for one reason or another so it really doesn't matter the "why".

Whenever I see or hear about a jelly donut, all I can think of is that scene from Full Metal Jacket.

"Underage" drinking and smoking by adults is generally not really something that the cops like to enforce on the public anyway. It's typically used as a pretext to break up a party annoying the neighborhood or find something more interesting, like warrants, hard drugs or weapons.

I don't recall anyone ever getting arrested or having to go to court just because they were 19 and drunk. It probably happens, but it's like jaywalking or tint.
