I like how the blinking "OVERHEIGHT MUST TURN" sign stops blinking right as the debris hits the road.

It's the chef's kiss to an already delicious peeling.

If that bridge could sing:

It's just another day
Choo choo choo choo choo choo
It's just another day
Choo choo choo choo choo choo
It's just another day

I don't understand why truck rental companies within 50 miles of the bridge don't make their customers sign a statement saying they will not attempt to go under the bridge, or they will be held personally liable. Even if that can't be enforced, it should make an impression.

Since adding 8 inches to the 11foot8 bridge there hasn't been as much destruction.  However the Milwaukee Roundabout has been taking up the slack:

The bridge is fed. Now it can go back into its slumber. Till the next sacrifice comes along.

That was AWESOME. Mostathatime the whole roof doesn't come off like that. This has to be in the Top Ten.

If there was a Fark Streetfighter game, one of the levels would be inside that truck. You can't do any jump attacks until the top gets sheared off.

That's just really poorly designed. I looked it up - apparently it's one hot mess that replaced another:

https://www.carscoops.com/2021/07/dodge-charger-crashes-after-entering-roundabout-with-way-too-much-speed/

The previous one may look worse, but at least it didn't have a curve immediately after that upward sloping bridge.

Again, we don't get the second camera angle replay. Not nearly as much fun without that second replay from a different angle.

Get your shiat together 11foot8+8 people, or I ain't watching anymore. The thrill is fading fast.

Why is the light green when OVERHEIGHT MUST TURN is blinking?

Can't they word that better?

Seems like poor UX/UI design to me.

The original intent was stupid anyway. I get that unusual intersections happen but you have to wonder why people thought it was ever a good idea back before the current roads existed. It's like the whole concept of Kelley Square in Worcester. You've got two streets crossing a third 80 feet apart with a fourth street coming into the mix directly after the second crossing street, all while being about 50 yards from the interstate.

Probably still doesn't have half the street signs it needs, doesn't solve the fact that too much shiat is going on, but hey it looks pretty for any corporate hacks going to the WooSox game down the street!

I'm willing to bet that a majority of these are long distance rentals. The guy renting out a Uhaul out of Tempe, AZ probably has no idea of this bridge.

Doubtful. The number of long-distance rentals that would happen to pass through that exact intersection is approximately zero.

I should have been more clear. I was thinking of people moving to that area from a long distance. Or hauling/delivering to there from a far.

Either that or I have grossly underestimated the amount of morons in the world.

I'm not from that area and I don't know it, but my understanding is the location of that bridge is an odd spot that almost no one would drive a truck under there for any reason.

Peach_Fuz: Or hauling/delivering to there from a far.

The street runs one way and there are local businesses that get delivery by truck. That's the reason they can't ban trucks from the street, and the reason all the warning signs have been put in place. Local delivery drivers know to make their delivery and turn at the intersection.

Peach_Fuz: I have grossly underestimated the amount of morons in the world.

This is an accurate statement.

They should make them watch a couple of the videos so they recognize the location if they end up there.

Did they at least solve the worst of the problems, namely the existence of a SubZero "ice cream" place?

Just about every truck rental place around greater Boston has a large map with Storrow and Memorial Drives highlighted and "DO NOT DRIVE HERE".  People drive on them anyway and get their trucks stuck.  It seems like a lot of local commercial truck operators--not amateur rental truck drivers--get stuck as well, so it's not just a dumbass students thing.

You can't make anything idiot proof because nature just makes a better idiot.

It's cute that you think that would make a difference.

Most people, when confronted with "I need to get to place X" internally convert that to "I must take route Y".   I've witness traffic jams from my apartment - in a grid neighborhood next to a main road, anyone could bail out any time they wanted to and take a different route, but instead they just sit in place going nowhere.

The building housing the second camera is being renovated. So the camera is offline for the time being.
