I'm just north of San José and we got some rain the night before last from which the ground is still damp.

We're expecting much, much more rain by tomorrow and into Monday.

Start a discussion thread about it when you get back.
I want to hear about the experience.

I might walk my kids in it tomorrow. I will share too.

We need the mudslides. If we can't bring water to the brush, we bring the brush to the water.

here in PDX we get a bunch of rain (as opposed to the usual constant sprinkles) and it softens the ground then the wind comes in and big trees start falling over. looks like we are shaping up for that since it has been raining hard and will continue for a week then bomb cyclone winds come in.
good bye power, it was nice knowing you. should be fun.

I'm driving from Santa Cruz to the north bay tomorrow. Going on highway to avoid the mountain, but may just get pulled out into the ocean

"I'm singing running in the rain"
Hmm...doesn't have the same ring to it.

/some of my most engraved memories include walking/sitting in the rain
//getting completely soaked
///and once just opening the patio sliding door and sitting watching a thunderstorm. Very hard to compete with Midwest thunderstorms.

lol

When I was a teen I travelled to California to visit family there.
We'd had a long dry spell here and my departing words to mom were "Hope it rains soon!"

It started to rain here that afternoon and did so, nearly non stop, for two weeks, major floods, all while I was laying out worshiping the sun out west. Came home with a tan and was told to never wish for rain again.

"Not like that" indeed.

Glad CA's getting some water but hoping it heals more than it hurts.

Mr SJF and I got our Pfizer shots at Levi's Stadium. Our second round shots were given to us in the visitor's locker room, so it was pretty cool.

Yeah, in the Before Time, I'd go to California once a year, in December. One time, after a full year's drought, it picked the day my plane landed to start pouring down rain.

This also works in Vegas. It's in a freakin' desert, but half the time when I go there, it rains.

Since it became difficult-to-impossible to travel cross-country, the Cali drought is my fault, obviously. But I'm not there now so I can't explain the torrent.

Sometimes when you haven't visited someone in a while, it builds up and you gotta let it go. When it rains it, pours...

You should give la Niña a call and see how she is doing next time.

Back in the 80's they sprayed Malathion on Southern California to kill fruit flies.  Your car was covered in sticky poison dots every morning.

There was a fleet of helicopters flying at night dropping this stuff, they did tell us to stay inside.  Now people complain about a simple thing like wearing a mask.

Right now, it's just not that amazing.

That's why many hobbits build their houses into the hillside to add structural reinforcement.

Hey, I'll have you know that in the seventies, it snowed for five whole minutes. I said to my friend, hey, look at the dirt falling from the sky. Turns out it was snow, and my friend had a filthy windshield.

Most people don't realize that the "atmospheric river" can bring you the same storm every day for weeks at a time.

There are a few photos from 1852, where parts of Central Valley were under 30 feet of water.
