What percentage of those in the ICU are vaccinated?  According to Canada's tracker, only 66% of the eligible population is fully vaccinated.

I mean... For awhile we did have the military in Florida helping us fight COVID. 4 FEMA mass vaccination sites. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It at least helped the ones that wanted to get helped.

That doesn't sound right.

Canada is at 83% of eligible people fully vaccinated and 73% of total population fully vaccinated.

Yet another Conservative government having to reverse course a few months after arrogantly defying doctors orders. It's so predictable. And the next step will be them winning landslide elections next time around for reasons unknown.

Yup, one of them held the sniper distance record from 2002 to 2009 for a shot in Afghanistan and one currently holds the record for a shot against ISIS in 2017 at a mind boggling 3,540m.

No, that's not quite right.  The effectiveness of the American military isn't really in question.  Trouble is the US vision of a standing military is that of a blunt force instrument useful only for conflict and making money for the already wealthy.  Most middle power countries use their military as more of a multifunction instrument.  Canadian forces are as likely to be seen in disaster relief/peacekeeping/SAR roles as on the battlefield as belligerents.

3-4 seconds waiting for the bullet to arrive on target.

6-7 seconds later, the sound arrives on target.

Then everyone stops and waits while an anatomic cut scene plays out.

Actually over 10 seconds, the round was actually subsonic by the time it got to the target, which makes the shot that much more amazing to me since there has to be some funky stuff happening in the transonic part of the flight that must have been fun to compensate for along with all the other variables they were juggling.

Right you are, I was incorrectly using constant bullet velocity

And once it is subsonic, funky things happen to the noise.

That would be terrifying. Just... splotch.

A military is fundamentally a labour force with an attached bureaucracy to support it. They handle their own wages, logistics, they do the accounting, and they can deploy and coordinate themselves without the civilian bureaucracy as a whole having to arrange everything, which is really helpful in isolated regions or places that have had their infrastructure buried/flooded/toppled/burned to the ground. When it comes to stuff like driving and moving casualties, well, that's what drivers and corpsmen do already and those are needed skills.

Our military is also older than the US's on average and a lot less stuff is contracted out, which tends to favour holding other skills in addition to fighting.

Nobody beats the civilian Coast Guard for crazy, though.

As much as I like making fun of Alberta and Saskatchewan, lets not forget that both Ontario and Quebec had the military help out during the first wave, during the spring of 2020.

They also came in to the rescue of Manitoba in May of 2021, for the 3rd wave.
