Wait, so like a hanger-on kinda henchman or an actual working henchman?

I mean the latter are still evil bastards but they probably do have pretty relevant in experience in organizational management and hardball politics.

Isn't "politician" just a different way to say "billionaires henchman"?

It's a community with an affordable housing crisis so dire that officials contemplated creating a tent city for nurses and service workers.

Is there no road out of the farking town?

...do you really think there would be cheaper housing in Boise or Pocatello?

"One of the charms of Ketchum is people aren't particularly class-focused," Boyle added. "Everybody gets along. It's one of the things that makes it special."

Isn't it amazing how rich people always think the "normal" people are happy with the way they are treated and that there are any issues is just something made up by those damned northern abolitionists that want to end the cotton industry?

I'm not sure the Monarch qualifies as a billionaire.  Even when he had his cocoon, his trust fund was pretty tight.

Yet another case where actually punishing the wealthy criminal would have led to a better outcome down the road.

I thought the article said the wealthy criminal was punished.

The real question should be, why would a multimillionaire WANT to be the mayor of a town of 2,700 people? He had more power over people when he was a member of Wall St, so this has to be some other nefarious purpose. The only thing I can think of is that he wants to run the poors out and turn it into some wealthy community since it sounds like it borders a wealthy community and crown himself king of Ketchum.

"If he does so by October 26, I will consider the matter closed. If he does not, I will pursue the legal remedies available to me."

You have no legal remedies available to you, you stupid piece of shiat.  You're a public figure, running for a public office, and the materials he printed are public record.

I suspect it is more:

1) His quiet retirement is boring so he wants the attentions.

2) He wants to make sure the town doesn't do anything counter to his desires for his rich person playground. Such as stopping the affordable housing project that is currently moving forward.

It's a pretty small valley.  The roads out have a ton of sheer mountain on both sides.

Sorry, but what the fark did I just read, and why the fark does the dude's bet worth matter? Because this sounds like a feud between a local "rich" big fish in small pond type and a newcomer bigger fish. This isn't like a David vs. Goliath story with good guys and bad guys - it's a trailer park owning slumlord against a minor investment banker. None of them give a rat's ass about local housing, and the doctor is being a giant dick.

2021-10-23 8:03:33 PM
Wait a second...  let me get this straight....

The guy that owns the cheap trailer parks in the town is more than willing to knock down the town hall to let some other developer put up low cost housing that's going to directly impact his business.

The super rich guy wants instead to bulldoze the trailer park and put up the low cost housing there....

Ok, Mr rich asshole, where the fark are the workers going to live between destroying the trailer park and the housing becoming available?  Oh, not your problem?  How about fark you.

Sounds like someone needs to have their ass kicked throughly at one of the town meetings this asshole claims to have been so diligent in attending.

But I'm some schmo from the east coast, so you can ignore me.

Also, based on the article (which was light on the details), doesn't sound like Mr rich asshole from out of town has a leg to stand on with the libel charge.  Should earn him another ass kicking on general principles.

FTA:  "I got a family. I got kids. I'm not this guy who has a huge bank account," Gilarowski added. "It's unnerving that here in America, a guy with money can come in and try to take me down."

I'm pretty much a henchman.

It sucks ass.

For example, one of the execs who holds a leash on me decided to kick me off a project because another exec wanted to push forward some job-jumper (29, no position over a year of tenure) into the lead position on the same project I broke my ass on for over a six month period.

I was only lead because my director quit without a replacement so it defaulted.

Bad news, she's unqualified and hasn't bothered to set a single transfer meeting.

Badder news, I've had to continue to function as the SME on presentations and demos for the product after being removed. My actual boss is cool with this since his direction is, "reflect well on my department during this transition."

Worse news, I'm on the action team for that program so I still have to do the work on the project, in perpetuity.

Interesting news, she submitted notice to jump to her next job, so they set the meeting to transfer the lead role back to me.

Fantastic news, I accepted a position with another company and drop notice on Monday.

It all dies when I leave. I'm beside myself. with joy.

So yeah, basically a henches' dream, get a shiat-ton of work done and break everything on the way to a better position.

Lower taxes, stopping eyesores like affordable housing, fast tracking permits for improvements to their ranch, ego, there are plenty of reasons to be mayor.
