Guns don't kill people, but an angry Tickle Me Elmo that's packing heat does not mess around.

I mean, I'm surprised they aren't just handing these out upon arrival. Instead of PE they are just going to replace it with live fire drills. That way when 2/3rds of the kids are forced into the military to pay for college it'll just stream line them right to the front lines of whatever BS excuse for war the next GQP Prezo makes up to funnel money to his golf buddies. Might as well lean into it at this point /s

Is the gun okay?

Mega Steve: Is the gun okay?

It touched a kid.

Either it's in jail or running for Congress on the GOP ticket.

When I think about all the bullying I had to deal with when I was in HS (in the 80's) - if it's any worse today, and I have no doubt it is, then it's no wonder kids bring guns.
In my case, I'd wait until after school, and shoot them in the back when their mother's mini-van pulled up.

Start fining the parents of these kids. Your child got hold of your improperly stored weapon. 5k for the first fine and all of your guns are confiscated never to be returned. Don't have the money? Your car is impounded and the impound fee of $100 a day will be added on to the fine. Quit screwing around with idiots that can't lock up their guns. If it's not your kid but it is your gun same rule applies. Broke into your house and stole your guns might be the exception. If you have a gun safe bolted to the floor.  Not cabinet, not trigger lock, a gun safe securely bolted to the floor. No room for one? Can't afford it? Apartment rules don't allow for a bolted safe? Then you don't own a gun. Not fair? Neither is death because you couldn't be bothered to lock up your farking guns.

Apartments would probably allow gun safes, but it would have to be installed by the property management and you'd have to leave it behind when you move (to discourage average people from wheeling 1200 lb safes up and down multiple stairways, or overloading the elevator). An architect designing a building should include a safe just for anything of value - guns, jewelry, important papers, etc. Everyone would know each apartment has a safe, but not which one has good stuff inside. I'd bet insurance companies would give a discount for using one, and it would be economical over the lifetime of the building.

I have a cheapo gun cabinet. Not currently bolted down, but it's behind so many boxes you can't see it. Already sold much of my gun stuff because there are no ranges nearby, and I don't live in constant fear.

We don't.  We have an Alec Baldwin problem.  And what was he doing in that elementary school anyway?

Yes. They say that it was recovered. I only got to recover books, and he gets to pretty up his gun.

I have lived in cities my entire life. I am 61 years old. I have lived in fear my entire life. I still have never owned a gun and don't plan to.

Yes, more justice based on bank account. If you can afford $5,000, then feel free to leave your guns lying around. If you don't have $5k, then we're going to make you lose your job so it's even harder to pay that $5k, not to mention put you even a debt cycle so even if you keep your job, all the money you pay will go to impound and you'll never pay the principle.

I do like the safe requirement. The 2nd Amendment was clearly intended to be limited to homeowners. People who rent are barely even people.

Should we be surprised?

If America didn't do something about guns in schools after Sandyhook, guess what? It's probably never gonna get done. Just another gold star in America's record of incompetence.

Well, I'm a woman.

Been through a few things others may or may not have.

Still no gun - I'd use it on myself before pointing it elsewhere.

Kids in Alaskan villages sometimes take guns to school. it's usually because there's been a bear sighting or it;s hunting season and they may see dinner on the way home. I highly doubt that's the case here though.

Children should be able to exercise second amendment solutions. That'll teach Billy to take the last slice of pizza.
