(WCPO Cincinnati)   Ohio high school cancels school play because one character might be gay (probably because local pastor pulled the 'think of the children' card). Kids work to put on play anyway in a community theater setting. Tag for the kids, GFM for theater rental   (wcpo.com) divider line

Looks like this pastor has no idea what the Streisand Effect really is, or, perhaps he thinks it's when the other guys at the Christian Fellowship Weekend put him in a crotchless Yentl costume

While Jeff Lyle, teaching pastor at Good News Gathering, said he is in favor of canceling the play, he said in an email he never spoke to the school board, who he believes made the decision. Lyle said the play is "inappropriate for a number of reasons" - pointing to implied sexual activity between the unmarried, innuendo and foul language, but said he is not aware of any role he had in the play's cancellation.

The Bible has those and much worse things.

That's only 1424 in redneck years.

Good work high school and pastor, you've kept the gay out of theater. Once and for all!

I donated, and they are less than $700 away from their goal.  Yeah, we can do this.

Gay is not inappropriate for children, just toxic adults.

Just dropped 50, and shared it on Facebook.   SKM is a fantastic show, and there is ZERO reason to ban or cancel it at all.  Uptight schmucks.

This is actually a really good idea. A Fark-run Gofundme may actually be the way to go here. I lack the time to set it up and run it myself, but I'll likewise happily throw a 20 in if someone does.

Who takes a kindergarten aged child to a school play?

Jebus  crist, ohio!  You never fail to disappoint me.  Ohioian by accident of birth.  Thank God I was a voracious reader as a child and my parents had lots of magazines and 2 different Sunday papers.

I once had a flight get cancelled when i was out in ohio for work.

I rented a car and drove 12 hours so i could get out of ohio sooner.

Its Florida, minus the handful of redeeming things of florida.

The best way to gauge the people that worked there was, "so, how did you end up here", and see if they sighed or not before giving their answer.

If it wasn't for gay characters American Theater wouldn't exist, you ponderous dullards.

Tennessee Williams much?

I wish you evangelical knuckledraggers would crawl back into your snake-handling pit and busy yourself with missing some other obvious subtext.  Jesus and his disciples didn't exactly give off a lot of hetero energy if you know what I mean.

However Boring story bro.....my hands Down favorite pair of jeans i bought in ohio. After i got the car and realized i was driving all the ways home, i didn't want to do it in the nice suit i had. So i bounced into a Kohls and bought a tshirt and pair of jeans. Just some random levis 5whatevers. I think they are 511s.

Anyway they rang up at 4 bucks.

They are hands down the most comfortable jeans i have ever owned. I mean they don't look like much, but its like, if god made some pants and said, i want to feel like i'm wearing pajamas, but also respectably go to the supermarket, this is what he would have made. The zipper broke, because, well kohls and 4 bucks, and i paid 10x what i paid for the jeans to have a tailor fix them.

I've ordered online the same brand, gone to levis stores, broke a personal promise to myself and went back to kohls, i honestly considered flying back out there and going to the same kohls hoping they still had some months later when i couldn't find the same ones anywhere because i loved them so much.

And that is my ohio story.
