Utterly ridiculous. Pants-on-fire-on-head stupid.

He wasn't yet even fully-patched, but threatened to kill cops?

It should be interesting to see how this shakes out.

"You start to lose that trust when you can't rely on the backgrounding of police officers," said state Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-27th Dist.), which encompasses San Jose. "You will have people patrolling our streets with a badge and a gun that do not see us in the community as equals."

Wow someone in power gets it AND said it out loud.

He used to be my assemblyman when I lived in his district, really solid dude. Definitely one of the good ones.

He should just dress up as COVID. Not only will be be able to kill a bunch of cops, he will also be welcomed into the police force.

They got a "concealed knife" from his home. Is that like something that looks mundane but has a hidden knife? And if yes, is it illegal there?
They also got a "concealed weapon" from his locker at work. Did they expect him to leave it out in the open?

Or is this just the cops messing with him?

Clearly doesn't get it, at least in the context of this article.

Guy in the article is not a police officer, does not "patrol the streets" and does not carry a gun.

Having a weapon out in the open is illegal. That's called brandishing.

Gun people, please don't educate me about the legality and benefit of weapon usage, how you know and do it better than others. I'm just making the point that whatever you're doing that ticks off the cops, they'll find a phrasing that implies criminality.

So....a knife in a drawer in your own home is "concealed?"

Well my phone screen flipped out on that one, let me try finishing.... Concealed in what way?  Like a booby trap or something?  Isn't inside his house the one place it's 'supposed' to be?

Maybe he camouflaged knives to look like everyday objects, kind of like the pop-out desk gun every one conveniently has in movies where you pound on the desk, except he has a huge knife with silk flowers duct taped to it masquerading as a vase.

Either way he seems like just a super swell guy.

Is he a community service-officer or a community-service officer? In this case I don't mind real cops getting a little rough with a wannabe tough guy.

It says from work, not home.  But a knife is a bit much from guys who carry firearms.

Let me rephrase that, complaining about a knife is a bit much from guys who carry firearms.

As I have said before, some people who really want to be cops have no business being a cop.

Police departments usually don't allow non-sworn personnel (employees who are not police officers) to carry firearms while on duty, or bring them into work.  I'm sure this clown knew that, and he may have surreptitiously brought one into the building and stored it in his locker in violation of department policy.

It says: San Jose police internal affairs detectives searched Shevchanko's home Oct. 14, confiscated an assault weapon, and a concealed knife. A concealed weapon was taken from his locker inside the police substation.

So, a gun and a concealed knife from the home and an additional weapon from work.

I was wondering about that "concealed" knife as well. I'm guessing it was hidden under a couch cushion or something.
