One less defense attorney using the "Come on! Look at her outfit! She was asking for it!" defense?

Good.

I'm sure one of his sucke....er.....clients will put up the $265

"I don't think they take Venmo, so maybe that was the problem," Uhlfelder said.

Gaetz isn't even legally represented by himself.

2021-10-22 9:36:42 AM
Gaetz has allowed his license to practice law in his home state of Florida to lapse

He fully expects to be disbarred, so he just wanted to be "not-a-lawyer-anymore" to avoid the bad press.

Plus his campaign grifting is his main source of $$$ anyway.

Hey Butthead, you like lost your law license and stuff. Huh huh huh

Not being represented by Matt Getz is good news for people being represented by Matt Getz.

Came here to say this. This is a huge win for any of his clients

He spent $600K+ to pull in $500K last quarter.  His campaign grifting is his main source of -$$$

He has a license to practice law in Florida? How low is that bar?

2021-10-22 10:08:55 AM
Wow, that douche is a lawyer?

2021-10-22 10:09:32 AM
So he's bad at law AND bad at business AND bad at paying his bills AND bad at following the law?

He's a republican...is anyone surprised by ANY of this?

2021-10-22 10:09:34 AM
Odd. He's usually good at paying minor fees.

2021-10-22 10:10:04 AM
Being legal has never stopped Matt Gaetz before.

OldRod: Gaetz has allowed his license to practice law in his home state of Florida to lapse

So not really due to any of his actions, just through inaction.

It goes all the way down to Cuba apparently.

2021-10-22 10:12:54 AM
Better to give up the license now before they take it away, if he ever gets convicted?

As low as you need it to be when you're dad owns it.

The Daily Beast has learned that the Florida Bar has branded Gaetz as "delinquent" twice in the past two years. The organization temporarily cut him off in 2019 and again in 2020

So the same thing that happens every year happened again this year?

Not going to read too much into this. Sounds like he doesn't give a fark about being a lawyer; it was just a job he took so he could become a politician.

2021-10-22 10:29:06 AM
He always looks like someone photoshopped his smile upside down.

2021-10-22 10:30:00 AM
Pretty sure that would be, in fact, good news for anyone being repped by Gaetz.

2021-10-22 10:33:04 AM
The bar may have refused the $265 in candy he offered.

2021-10-22 10:34:41 AM
So, anyone being represented by Gaetz is now barely legal?

2021-10-22 10:34:45 AM
Ain't that a kick in the nuts.

2021-10-22 10:36:59 AM
It's better news than "Matt Gaetz is your attorney."

2021-10-22 10:39:13 AM
Just move his law practice 3.1 miles off shore and hand out business cards with gold (not real gold) fringe.  Ha!  Libereedibereedoos.  What are you gonna do now?

2021-10-22 10:42:00 AM
Don't worry.  If you're found guilty, I'll just submit a rider on a popular bill in congress that will declare you innocent.  That's the "Gaetz guarantee*"

*Gaetz guarantee is not a guarantee.  Must guilty part must donate $25,000 to the Matt Gaetz SuperPac prior to guarantee being maybe guaranteed.

2021-10-22 10:43:48 AM
Seems like GOOD news to me

Between Gaetz and Giuliani and The Kraken, it's as if the average bar exam consists of the proctor firing licenses from a t-shirt cannon.

Seriously, law-talking-people, this situation is embarrassing.

US ownership of the seas extends 200 miles from the coast.  I am all in favor of dropping Geatz and his entire entourage off, 200 miles off the Maine coast...in international waters...in the middle of the frigid Atlantic.

If you're currently licensed to practice law and you're found guilty of child trafficking or financial crimes, are the penalties automatically increased?

Are you sure? I thought that's what got him into this mess in the first place

2021-10-22 11:17:44 AM
Appreciated the Venmo joke but for me the takeaway was that Gaetz is trying to get out ahead of his looming disbarring by making it look like giving up on being a lawyer was his idea.

If Gaetz gets away with his actions even after Greenburg goes down for it then this will be Cohen and TFG all over again.

Sadly he still represents Florida's first district, or Extreme southern Alabama despite not being able to practice law
