Restaurants don't want you too comfortable, they need to turn those tables in order to make enough money to stay open on thin operating margins.  They don't want you sitting there for 3-4 hours.

Chairs with no back legs.  I won't sit in them. I'm sure they stack just lovely.  I don't trust them for holding me up.  And I'm no longer a fatty so that's not it either.

This is exactly why I have furniture in my office that looks nice, but is not that comfortable.

I'm short and I have back issues. There is no such thing as a comfortable restaurant chair.

Also why they play fast tempo music at a volume just high enough to discourage conversation.

The most uncomfortable are the community seating ones, so you have to eat sitting with randos like it's a high school cafeteria.

Even worse, the core strength it takes to dislodge yourself from the deep fold in the booth is equivalent to the gains from at least three CrossFit classes.


Wow.  I must not be their target audience by a few hundred pounds.
