Super car "accidentally" driven into a large body of water? I'm sure it's not at all an insurance scam.

Ugh, the Harlequin Mk III abomination. The only advantages to that paint job was that it was easy to find in a parking lot, you'd have a hell of a lawsuit if you got hit day or night, and after that if you got shiatty mismatched parts from the body shop, who would ever know?

Easy to reach oil filer, belts not so much. Fookin' shift linkage would shear off at random, the damn thing would $8. you to death in random broken parts after 50K miles and the failure of the distributor cap rotor diode would cause a series of cascade failures that would fark up *everything* with the engine if not immediately addressed, and oh yeah that lovely plastic hot water outlet housing and gasket were total shiat and would fail in 20K per unit regardless of what brand you bought. Unfarkingbelievable levels of shiatty thin plastic inside and out, and that lovely door "bumper trim" would peel off if you looked at it wrong.

Haha I love it.

In the US you never did experience the joys of the selespeed: imagine a little computer-ised Italian sitting on a normal 5 speed gearbox to make it "automatic"

75's Milanos...the joys of prop shaft doughnuts. They never did get the RHD conversion sorted out too well.

One reason I kept my old Holden was for stress relief: simple cars, designed by simple people, put together by (even more) simple people.

My wife has a mk7 golf that lunched its trans at 60k's (thousand kilometres)...uhhhh

It was one of the first four Harlequin Golfs from the whole series. I got it free from a friend in 2013 and sold it in 2020 for $3700. While I owned it I did head gaskets, brake drums, brakes, bearings, replaced the automatic door lock compressor, clutch, and probably more that I can't remember.
