Lying on official documents for the purpose of fraud is a criminal act. In the same year fatboy claimed the value of the golf course was $1.4 million and in excessive of $50 million in official records

This is what I love about this particular legal dilemma:  you don't need to prove what the place IS worth, or that Trump KNEW the valuation and lied about it,  just that he claimed on thing on a loan app and something wildly different on a tax form, signed them both under oath and HAD to know one was wrong

They probably need to look at what was claimed on insurance forms too.

Where are these places that let you just tell them what the value is for your property taxes? That has not been my experience .

This fark has literally gone to court and claimed, with a straight face, that his valuation of his brand fluctuates by billions depending on how he's feeling.

Wish I could do this with my home, the local tax board thinks it is worth $186,000 which makes me laugh, when I bought it was worth $125,000.

I figured there was roughly a 259% chance that Trump has engaged in a decades-long pattern of undervaluing properties for tax purposes and overvaluing them for lending purposes.  Like wild swings in value, which probably got wilder and wilder as he did this year after year without consequences.

Sure, he'd have to have complicity of lenders and probably tax authorities to get away with this.  That doesn't mean he's somehow off the hook for dozens, perhaps hundreds, of counts of tax and bank fraud.

Saw this on Maddow last night.  County appraiser says the property is worth $15 million.  Trump claims $1.4 million, but then lists it on his federal campaign disclosure reports as "Greater than $50 million"

Probably just a rounding error...

Yup.  Its a slam dunk.

I mean, Cohen stated exactly that in front of Congress years ago. Trump et al have done everything possible to keep tax documents out of the hands of Congress and investigators. They know they are guilty as shiat.

I hope that by the time the government's through with him, Melania's married Kanye and the only thing he's got left is a MAGA hat to cover his tootsie roll while asking for recount money from people in gridlock downtown.

If these localities want to ensure the big property owners correctly value their property for tax purposes, they should pass a law saying that anyone can buy their property for what they value it plus twenty percent. So if someone like the Orange Traitor values a million dollar property at 750 thousand for tax purposes, anyone who wants to can buy that property for 900 thousand.

I am thinking the government double the value of the place and buy it from the Trump org giving him a 100% profit.

The government should get the property at the lowest provided fraudulent value or the equivalent  percentage below current market value, whichever is less.

And that wouldn't count as a loss for tax purposes.

NewportBarGuy: Yes, and literally thousands of very rich people do this all the time...

No, they really don't. Really rich people recognize that there's a cost of doing business, and that is far cheaper in the long run to make sure they're dealing above board.

So they hire accountants, and those accountants have independent auditors double-check their work, and so on.

There are many reasons that NYC society doesn't accept ol' Don, but they all kinda boil down to this attitude- he doesn't know how to act like a wealthy individual.

And now tax assessors are going to really get nosy. And The Man doesn't like anyone skipping out on the bill.
