Is there any more debate or is that step over and it's just on to the voting?

I'm already on to the Advil Migraine, Submitter.

2021-10-21 9:06:36 AM
The fact that they're even voting on this shiat tells you how badly we're circling the drain right now.

2021-10-21 9:15:56 AM
Prediction: 51 no, including Manchin and Sinema, because of course.

House vote, not the Senate

Maybe if we all end up looking like Bannon we'll never get arrested either.

2021-10-21 9:27:18 AM
The question is whether or not the DOJ will do anything. And the fact that that's even a question is extremely disturbing, but par for the course for our country's DOJ.

Should someone call Vincent Wolf or is it too early?

2021-10-21 9:49:58 AM
You shouldn't do Tylenol for hangovers. It's processed by the liver and that poor thing is already overworked getting rid of the booze. Just do a BC powder...it's aspirin and caffeine.

2021-10-21 9:59:36 AM
Hmm. I wonder how many shirts Bannon is wearing today? Did he put on a 3rd one to hide the pit stains today?

Oh.  Right.  Sorry, saw "congress" and for some reason interpreted it as "senate."  In that case, Bannon's farked.  Couldn't happen to a shlubbier asshole.

If "pro-" is the opposite of "con-" one can safely assume the most recalcitrant element IS the Senate.
However, in this case, we are not talking about progress, just catching a rat bastard.

I require that everyone who votes no on this to explain in detail why they voted that way.

That's right. I require it.

It's a house vote, luckily. Could see Sinema busting in and trying to vote anyway, though.

I found a couple of bags of IV fluids will set you straight so you can start again if they let you out.

and a cheeseburger.  Don't forget the burger and fries.

1.) Senate's not involved in this one
2.) Which GOP senator were you expecting to vote yes or Democratic senator to abstain to get to 51 if both Manchin & Sinema vote no?

2021-10-21 11:34:56 AM
My prediction:  straight party-line vote, except Cheney and Kinzinger will vote "yes"

Pretty sure she's too busy interning at a winery in california or training for the boston marathon or something to be bothered.

Interesting to see just how many Repugs vote along with the Dems.  I'm thinking 3 or 5 maybe? Zero perhaps?

OldRod: My prediction:  straight party-line vote, except Cheney and Kinzinger will vote "yes"

What I didn't get about the Illinois Dems' congressional map was why they decided to make Kinzinger's district competitive at the cost of making some of their other districts competitive.  I get wanting to have every Illinois seat for the US House a potential blue seat, but do you really want to make life difficult for the Marie Newmans of the world going into 2022/2024?  Especially when Kinzinger has been willing to break ranks with the GOP on certain issues?

2021-10-21 11:38:42 AM
The present malaise that I feel in this country is really debilitating.  I have friends and family who are suffering from depression despite having good jobs, and my daughter in college knows many students who are simply barely hanging on right now.

The only way we can survive this is if we have public hearings that are televised daily.  Said it in another thread...they need Watergate style hearings with public testimony.  They need to drag people in, hell or high water.  They need to show that Congress will enforce the law if need be, and that they will check on the other branches.

I know the Republicans will block anything and everything.  Pelosi and Schumer need to use every possible trick in the procedural book to hammer down on all the BS that the Republicans will throw.  Get rid of the filibuster.  Take Manchin off committees.  Do SOMETHING to mix things up.

If Bannon is allowed to maintain his livelihood while the rest of us are working away, we have lost it all.

2021-10-21 11:39:27 AM
It's worth noting that none of the Republicans actually on the rules committee stood up and defended Bannon. They let the usual thugs fall on their swords.

I want to believe (streetlight.jpeg)... but not until I hear a congresscritter ask something like "Mr. Bannon, is it true that you post poorly interpreted religious texts to discussion groups, out of context to the discussion generally accepted to being occurring, on a forum known as Fark, which, as best we can tell is most well known for attempting to procure the naming rights to a sports arena for a day to an acronym for inserting a digit into where your opinions originate from?"

Well, one party is all but explicitly antidemocratic, so I guess anything that preserves democracy is partisan now.

Manic Pixie Dream Senator isn't a real thing, but she's channeling Zoey Deschanel and Victoria Jackson at the same time and that's pretty damn confusing.  Expect her to start dancing in the Senate well soon, then she'll wear herself out.  Give her a juice box and put her down for a nap.

There's like seventeen steps before he sees any prison time.  If you drag out each one, and you know they will, it will be well into Trump's third term.

Despite the wealth of evidence provided by the committee, the Republicans aside from the two on the committee will vote against this.  So, effectively, they are putting party above nation.  Hence, partisan.
