It's been a long journey from Milan to Minsk and I truly have had adventures all over the place but getting pushed over the border to Poland wasn't in my plans.

Does Poland need Uncle Vlad and Aunt Merkel whoever the new guy is to regulate, again?

I think its someone from the Green Party, which doesn't mean much to me but she does seem to want to at least slow down Nord Stream 2 and that will for sure make the Russians mad. I may be totally wrong though, I know very little about things over there.

No?
Whose fault is that?
Why aren't they escaping into Wakanda?

Hey, don't look at me that way.

I'm not sure it really deserves a seat at the table compared to the supremacy issues at stake between the Polish and EU constitutions, though. Besides, if this Belorussia issue is a military matter, isn't that NATO's sphere?

why is it Poland's job to sort out Belarus?

Belarus is engaging in human trafficking across the border as an act of organized state violence, Poland is like, hey, union that I'm in, can I get some help here?

And their allies chime in, not to help, but to chide Poland for considering this to be an issue at all.

Of course, they're not helping themselves with their anti-LGBT crap

And even if they did, any educated green knows that intermittent power cannot supply all of your electricity demand (by definition) without significant wasteful overcapacity.

Your only choice is Nukular or Gas. And even if you choose Nukes, you still need gas to throttle as nukes don't like not running at full throttle.

/in other words, Germany needs Russian gas even more now

Unless you're counting the Nazis distributing a bunch of stuff to themselves, of course.

The wealth of the British empire was redistributed to the US.  And then after WW2 some of the US wealth was redistributed to European countries.

American workers went from the depression to the postwar boom.  You're delusional if you think wealth redistribution only means "a Nazi got an art".

Ummm...
Don't you think the people that had their wealth taken from them, even if they weren't forced into labor or a grave, would be interested in a macroeconomic view?

At OUR level, there is certainly a wealth distribution that takes place.

But, even if we consider the Kaiser, the Romanov's and the emperor of Japan's money are the types of wealth we are speaking about...they all kinda have had a shiatty go of it.

The USA certainly became a wealthy world power because of our alignments.

Urguay and Argentina and Brazil certainly experienced an uptick in population with 'runnin around' money in their wall safe.

The post WWII rebuilding of Japan probably created a pseudo middle class, industrialization. German determination and allied funding has given them an enviable form of democracy and the ability to look down their noses at what Britain and the US have deteriorated into.

Don't get me wrong, there was no Magic Wand Wealth Distribution.

But an awful lot of money moved into areas that it had no interest in moving into without a couple barn burners.

Belarus is deliberately enticing refugees to come to Minsk with false promises of getting to Western Europe, even paying their airfare, and then dumping them off at their EU borders as revenge for the sanctions and calls for resignation during the democracy protests last year.

The EU response to this has mostly been to chide Poland for illegally sending them back to Belarus. Of course, when Poland does let the refugees in, they immediately want to cross to Germany, and the EU demands that Poland stop them and take them back in.

Yeah, the Romanovs, the Habsburgs, and the Hohenzollerns all lost their political power (and the Romanovs their lives) but their wealth wasn't distributed to the people, it was distributed to their successors such as the Soviets, who were very much not interested in further distribution to the people. The Japanese imperial family remains on the throne to this day.

Also let's keep in mind who exactly did the vast majority of the starving and dying during the world wars. Hint: it wasn't the rich people.

Too late to "slow it down" other than

1) slow walking through Eurocracy (which the Eurocrats are doing)
2) limiting flow through it, but I'm not sure how one would do that if Germany signs up for ALL ZE GAZ

Yeah, I covered all that.

But you are being disingenuous by acting like the shops just boarded up and the banks just closed until the first regular day of business after the war.

Just using one example...the Union bank...and that's the ones that got caught..! But the big investors in that project made a shiat ton of investment and connections that brought us at least 2 presidents, CIA directors, the savings and loan scandal, a few governors...

Nice try mr. quorkfiend, but I think history is on my side in this discussion.

Easily as strong as anything England played.

/no, not the UK
//does it look like the other nations would choose to remain in the UK over joining the EU?
///but the EU was supposed to back down for the Queen.  Poland is less likely to have that much hubris, but is historically at least attached to independence (during the rare times it has it).
