He'd also direct the department to create a public animal abuse registry that would log all New Yorkers who are convicted of animal abuse, similar to a sex-offender registry.

Sounds good to me.

I have not heard Sliwa's name in ages. I didn't realize he was still alive, much less running for NYC Mayor.

Though my family is friends with many of the Soprano's cast, I cannot support any Republican candidate. After what we've just witnessed, it doesn't matter how good a person they might be or what feel-good plan they're selling, putting an R by their name is and will forever be a deal-breaker.

There were two problems with the ending. The first problem was it only really worked on the second viewing, as most people wacthing the first time thought there was a technical issue and that took them out of the moment. But watching it the second time makes it clear (i think anyway) what happened.

And obviously the second problem with the ending wa

In case anyone forgot who he was, he's the 67 year old man wearing a red beret like he's still volunteer-patrolling subway cars half a century ago.

My wife and I are rewatching the Sopranos, before we watch the prequel. We're almost done, and it's been worth our time. There is a ton of stuff one or both of us had forgotten, and a ton more I'm thinking about differently now. You could probably watch it ten times and pick up new layers of meaning each time.

I just want to say that the Sopranos movie was deeply underwhelming, unnecessary, pointless, and barely mediocre. That is all. And I even appreciated the series endi-

It's got nothing on Deadwood's ending.  The TV Show equivalent of blue balls.  They spend the whole season building up to a big fight and then, Nope, I'm leaving, everyone go home, nothing to see here.

I liked it too. It was such a great show there is no way they could have wrapped it all up in any way that would have made everyone happy because you have only two ways to end it otherwise. One is that he dies which is cheesy and cliche. The second is that the story keeps on going and we aren't seeing it which isn't actually an ending at all. This way we can all just write our own last couple of lines and leave it how we want.

Pretty impressive to have some Sopranos on board, but I'm withholding my endorsement until I see who the cast of Dancing with the Stars backs.

In their defense, they got cancelled after Season 3, and left a lot of unresolved plotlines behind.  The movie helped a bit, but not all that much.

Mayoral hopeful Curtis Sliwa has unveiled his animal welfare platform that will ban backyard breeders, create "no-kill" shelters and put feral cats to work

That all sounds pretty g...wait what?

As for the series ending: personally I loved thinking through all of those "Tony was whacked" theories -- all the possible foreshadowing ("you don't even hear it," Tony saying death and jail are the only two ways out), Godfather references (the orange juice, the walk to the bathroom), the internal parallels (the orange cat, the Members Only jacket, Meadow successfully parallel parking on the third attempt). It's all great.

I'd also like to push back against those who say "you're missing the entire point, the show was all about the characters and the themes" (similar to those who defend the indefensible Lost ending). I don't think it's unreasonable to want to talk about old-fashioned ideas like storytelling and plot. Those still matter too.

Does that include people who kill and eat animals?  Or is mistreatment only considered so far as said animals are cute and cuddly pets?

It's not a terrible idea, but is that really what he thinks is the biggest issue for New Yorkers right now?

Sopranos had to end like that because they cut the part where this old guy walks in the restaurant in a red beret, Tony looks up, says "Not this farking guy again" and shoots. Tony then announces he's giving up crime to open a chain of no kill shelters.

Feels more like they cancelled it about 50 minutes into the last episode.
