*reads the first couple paragraphs*

So is this about Wazzu doing the right thing or is the article going to be about how amazing SEC coaches are?

Aside from anti-vax, I'd be willing to bet they knew all this when he was hired

Not a great time to bring up Ed Orgeron as a model of good behavior, either.

Slate has a well-known southern bias.

Being antivax just shows a person is extremely selfish and self-serving. It is just one piece of an overall shiatty person. It just helps flag them as such.

AKA "a football coach"

Don't confuse the SEC coaches and ADs with the fanbase itself. That's not to say that they're a bunch of liberal Democrats, but for the most part, they are professional enough to keep their opinions to themselves and get vaccinated. It doesn't do you any good when half of your team is too sick to play week to week. Lane Kiffin managed to get 100% of the Ole Miss players vaccinated in a Trump loving state.

One way to look at it is that the SEC has a lot of big time programs and what that means in a lot of ways is that those ADs and coaches are good at everything - they are good at recruiting and the media and all of the little stuff that goes along with Xs and Os.  Nick Saban is good at every part of his job - even the perfunctory "beat up a reporter to get the team fired up before a cupcake game".  A guy like Mike Gundy is not good at all of those things even though he's good at Xs and Os and player relations so he's stuck at OK State.  He's there because the President of Georgia doesn't want to answer questions about the dumb thing his coach said.

Mike Leach is not good at those things also which is why he's at one of the SECs also-rans and probably not for long.

There's no reason a coach is fired other than not winning.

For instance, years of being a known dirtbag didn't cost Ed Orgeron his job. Losing to Kentucky just once did.

I'm guessing WSU fans were overjoyed. Roll the dice on someone else. Chances are the team will continue to be mediocre, but a slightly better coach that will ultimately bolt for a powerhouse could happen.

If he was going 10-2, 11-1 every year, I doubt the school would have given a shiat about his anti-vax stance.

You covered shiatty human being when you mentioned anti vaxxer, subby.

Rolovich is something a lot simpler: He is the coaching profession's most high-profile failure of the entire pandemic, in ways that go beyond not getting the shot. He is also a selfish coward, in ways that exceed any health risks he poses by not getting vaccinated.

Well this article isn't pulling any punches.

And now he's suing, citing his "sincerely held religious beliefs" as a Catholic.  With the Pope encouraging vaccinations.

They are unlikely to hire someone they suspect will lose more games.  They knew everything else.

Why can't he just say "Look....even though I'm a strong, manly, manly football coach, the mere thought of needles makes me fill my underwear with enough shait to fertilizer Guam"

\Why can't he just say that?!

Well, half of American Catholics pretty much hate the Pope. So he could just say he's an American Catholic

But he's the only WSU coach to never lose an Apple Cup!

Maybe he tried that and it didn't work. WSU has an agricultural science department, so there's use for the fertilizer.

Well, only this one 'cause he keeps telling them to act like Jesus.

The second they get a new Pope that follows 'Murican Jesus, the Pope will be back IN.
