First and foremost, I should have led with a lot more humanity.

This is a nonsense phrase of pseudo-sociological babble that has absolutely no tangible meaning beyond "I should have used more words that amount to little more than feel-good bullshiat that I don't actually believe but might have made for better copy before I got to the stuff that I actually intended to say and still believe."

Why is it that LGBTQ people don't go after issues that are ACTUAL problems that are harming them? They always target jokes, incorrect pronouns, or other small things that don't hurt the community as a whole.

They need to get their priorities straight, take a deep breath, and repeat "it was a comedy special" over and over until they realize that.

The problem with your revenge fantasy is that Chappelle could just turn that in to another $20 million dollar contract and national sold out tour.

The human garbage that finds those jokes funny are some of the same people who assault trans folks for sport, and nobody gives a shiat about that issue either. It doesn't matter to you because it doesn't paint a target on your back.

Worse: he's unfunny.  Imagine paying $17.99/month to Netflix to stream a middle aged guy complaining about Twitter.

There's oodles of free podcasts or YouTube videos where you can enjoy people complaining about Twitter, instead.  They're not usually funny either, but they're free.

Right?  Like, all of the "best" "jokes" people keep posting from the show were just him biatching about how unfair he's been treated. Where's the funny part, Mr. Comedy Genius?

Yeah, basically that whole bit came off as Chapelle being aghast that someone would dare point out that there might be some problems with what he said.  It ended up not being too far away from any given Fox News segment assailing "woke culture" -- and not much funnier.

Also, their numbers say he's plenty funny.

'Edgy' comedians do not age well. They are, if anything, a product of their time and experience. As the world changes, their stuff becomes outdated and often their turns to bitterness or just not funny. Compare Carlin in the 70s to the caustic, ranting sets before he died. How many now cringe at Eddie Murphy's Raw special. And those are just the ones without serious baggage added on top like Louis CK.

I think they have their priorities straight.  This was not a government action or policy that has to be addressed politically on a whole-society level.  It was a private, commercial activity that affected the employees of that enterprise and its customers.  If the employees protest that they do not want to be party to objectionable behavior, and if the customers choose to cancel their memberships over it, they are both acting within what is expected in a free market society.  It's not larger than any other matter, and it is being handled at the level appropriate to it and without - as far as I can see - taking resources or attention away from other priorities that you may be suggesting are more important to them.

Maybe stop giving these people bigger soap boxes, because it rarely ends well.

GTFO of here with "he's unfunny".  There are few people in history funnier than Dave Chappelle.  This joke is bigoted and wrong.  But there is some truth in it.  People absolutely should be more up in arms about black men killing other black men.  His problem was that he should have just picked a different group of people to contrast that point with.

But unfunny?  Go watch Friends for a laugh.   You seem like the type.

Yes, because this is the all-consuming issue of the LGBTQ community right now.  Multi-tasking is impossible for them.

It's like how you can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Dave Chapelle himself said one of the reasons he ended up hating Chapelle's Show was because when he was out in public with his family, people would walk up to him and say "I'm Rick James biatch!". It's is not hard to imagine how the same or similar people would use his jokes as a pass to do similar things to transgender people.

His stand-up is, as always, pretty mediocre.  He built his reputation, deservedly, on Chappelle Show (which is almost two decades old now).  But his stand-up has never done it for me.

His delivery, in particular on his old stuff, just carries way too much of the "white guys do it like *this*, black guys do it like *that*" cadence for me to enjoy.
