A balanced diet? What the f*ck are you thinking! A Mediterranean caveman with a stick up his ass wouldn't eat a balanced diet.

I already know how I lose weight: drink less beer. however, the salvation of my eternal soul has some major quibbles there.

Death before I give up the beer!!

Also I'm working 10 hours straight on a construction site everyday, ill take my calories wherever they come from.

Hell last night I stopped and grabbed Chipotle. I did not feel like cooking and it's right there near the house. I forgot how bland their food is. But the burrito was straight calories before I had a couple beers and passed out.

Even the black beans were just bland. Jesus would it kill you to add butter and garlic maybe some cayenne?

Go for the Qdoba. Better tasting and a much lower chance of shiatting out your internal organs too.

Yeah... I dropped 20 lbs over the summer (hells yeah field work) but field season is over and I've recouped 5 of them so far. Goddam beer. This winter is going to be a chore.

Carbs from added sugar and processing destroy me. I get inflammation that cripples me, paralyzes the joint in my vocal cords and mutes me, and blows out the joints in my wrists and hands so I can barely function.
I laugh in the face of cholesterol and salt concerns. For me, it's carbs that threaten my quality of life and you'd better believe I'll cut them.

It's right there man. Jump off highway and easy fast light. I'm dead on my feet and barely functioning after being up and down damn ladders and screaming that a piece of pipe or duct or some other contractor is a farking whore.

Actually Google mapping my new residency, there isn't a Qdoba near me.

A Cafe Rio is near by? Never had that one.

I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis. Carbs are delicious and I don't know where I was going with this.

Mostly I only use one for Christmas, otherwise I make drop cookies.

Oh, cutting CARBS.  I thought you said cookies.  No, I don't cut carbs.

I guess it's back to grain alcohol and diet lime tonic. I'll miss my beer carbs.

I've been considering switching to a steady diet of Tom Collins. can even skip the sugar if the lemons have been pummeled well enough.

as for tonic, we still have two 1L bottles from when my father recently visited - just now went to look at the ingredients (I mean, I know it has some kind of sugars in it) - but... HFCS? bleh, no thank you, that shiate is going right down the drain. although it was rather amusing when I mixed up 2 large extra-strong thermos of his favorite "TTT" (Tito's, tonic, twist) when we went to see that new 3-hours James Bond. reclining cushy seats, smuggled chips and various chocolate bars, plus blankets and pillows and unrepentant booze? this is how movies should be seen.

What do you get for protein from Chipotle? I totally get the nearby thing, but I'm with Ninev2 on this, Qdoba is definitely the better of the two. That being said, I've always enjoyed the carnitas from Chipotle, flavor-wise.

Thank you, Cheap Thoughts! I agree! I love pasta and potato chips. I like to not hurt better, though.
Kids get this stuff before they can even walk, so I have nothing to complain about, really.
But when people say their joints hurt, I always hope they cut the carbs. And see a doc. And I don't know where I was going with this.

Kinda jealous, all the Cafe Rios within a few hours of me closed. Their sweet pork barbacoa is wonderful for a fast casual Mexican style joint.

I've lately been having a terrible time with this. So, what do you eat then, if not carbs? I'd like the aches to go away. Any good book or diet recommendations that have worked for anyone?

I'm sorry to hear that, acloverandabee.
I eat really well. My husband is an amazing cook.
You could be reacting to a number of things. Sugar is most common. Other culprits include nightshade plants, lectins, dairy, nuts, and red meat.
I recommend the Anti Inflammation Protocol. You'll cut what you eat to a few safe foods and then add food groups back in to see what affects you. It's insanely strict, but it's short-term and if you look at it as an experiment on yourself, it's an interesting process.

Thank you Testosteronephobe! I was "researching" (Ha!) on the internet yesterday while I wait probably close to forever for my rheumatologist referral to go through. Man, what a contradictory mess that is! Your advice makes good sense to me, so I'll give it a shot.

Good luck! Seems like there is a shortage of rheumatologists that has nothing to do with supply chain. If you find a good one, it's like winning the lottery!

I said screw it. Didn't eat yesterday just went home and passed out. So today figured wth, give it a shot. (2 fast food burritos in a week 🤣)

Holy shiat. The steak is on point, it wasn't chewy or dry, it was well seasoned and moist. Rice and black beans were tasty, lettuce was immaculate and the tomatoes in the Pico actually tasted like tomatoes, not some watery sponge.

And it's only 3 blocks from the house!
