I'm "shocked" and "stunned" at how calm that badger on his head is.

Thinking this maybe a distraction by an admitted liar from the actual charges he may face. He is a republican so something involving child sex trafficking and sexual abuse is possible.

Why do those evil dumbocraps make crimes illegal?

This is a travesty of a shamockery!

Oh...the moron who used a picture of himself taking a selfie with his family in an ad instead of using the selfie.
Paying someone to do the thing oneself is actually doing already for free shows stupidity on many levels to me.

There are Nigerian billionaires? Was that email actually true?

Hey!  He's just like me... minus the Nigerian billionaire part.

She said he later called his friend, attorney and former congressman Trey Gowdy, for legal representation. She said her husband sat for another interview with agents in Washington and was repeatedly assured that he was not a target of the investigation.

LOL

Any street level drug dealer with no education could tell you that was bullshiat. I bet he gave them everything they needed while thinking he was talking his way out of it.

Something missing here, I think... he had foreign money funneled through his campaign, but it looks like he reported it and had nothing to do with it, and now he's being charged with lying to the FBI?

I feel like there's a part of this that we aren't seeing.  Has anyone confirmed with the FBI that he is actually being charged?  Or is it a fundraising gimmick?

On the other hand.... yet another Republican filming a video in their vehicle - is that like a law or something?

Prosecutor aren't required to tell you much of anything up through the grand jury phase. If charges are brought, then discovery applies. Hell, you don't even have to be present, or even *notified*. I've been on the receiving end of the federal justice system.

I don't see anything in TFA that he reported anything to the FBI. Based on TFA:

1) He got funneled donations from a rich Nigerian.
2) The FBI showed up and asked him questions and responded that he knew nothing about it.
3) He called up Gowdy to try and kill the investigation.
4) He was called into the FBI office where he again denied knowing anything.
5) Once the Trumpettes were out of power the FBI resumed doing its job.

Of course... they go in there already knowing the factual answers to the questions they will ask. This is why you tell law enforcement that they may speak to your attorney - even if their question is "what time is it?".

So a group of californians work for years in concert to move illegal campaign funds in to US elections. Are they going to be charged with conspiracy ? This shiat really needs to get smacked hard. Im so sick of all these weasels taking foreign money and then they get caught and say oh sorry let me give it back or donate it to a good cause. Like they didnt know they were getting dirty money

I remember when a recently-elected Jeff Fortenberry came to speak at my law school to tell us how much damage lawyers were doing to the economy.

I hope every lawyer he tries to hire remembers that.

I just got hit myself. I've never farked with law enforcement when I'm guilty though, and it's generally worked out. I had enough time on the street to know that when the Feds come talk to you, they have already been up your ass with a microscope and you just didn't feel it.  First interview ended with me offering the guy from the IGs office any documentation he might need in nailing me.  And I'm glad I did, discovery made me lol at just how unnecessary I was in the whole process but I scored some points (even literal points under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines) and have a chance at a life again after my timeout.  It could have been much, much worse.   My god the shiat they dug up in complete stealth. Scary. Never fark with the eagle, unless it's to smash its windows and try to murder its representatives, apparently.
