I don't know a single local person who has found or possesses a PS5. Tons of Switches though.

Nintendo has only themselves to blame by not releasing a truly improved switch. OLED isn't what it needed. More power, especially while docked, to remove loading times and output at higher resolution.

\Either that is they should never have allowed Bluetooth audio

So far I haven't seen a good reason to get a PS5, especially since they announced the next Horizon game would also be available on the PS4.

\and will certainly come to PC eventually

Last year I hit short window at Costco and got one for my grandson. It was nothing short of a miracle.

Switch is sitting at 90 Million sold. The OLED will probably do another 20. PS5 is just at like 10 Million sold so I think Nintendo is doing perfectly fine with what they've got.

I bought a PS5 on the after market earlier this year. Some of it was for the games, but a good part was for audio since a lot of streaming isn't Dolby atmos yet and disks are needed. It has been worth it so far.

I also don't know anyone who has been able to get a ps5 or whatever the current Xbox is but I think everyone I know or their kid has a switch.

Only a couple of years in and the "Lying 20s" has another contender for "Lie of the Decade".*

*Unless Sony's using this "new math" I keep hearing about in their sales calculations.

I've never once seen a PS5 or Xbox whatever in a store, ever. And every time I happen to visit any big box store, I check (not intending to buy yet, just out of curiosity). No one I know has ever seen one. Even at the height of the Switch drought, which was mostly due to soaring popularity during the pandemic, I knew people who happened to find one here or there when the shelves were irregularly stocked. Then I myself found one in the same manner. Nobody has a farking PS5.

Has it occured to you that maybe it's because they're sold out?  If the supply is less than the demand that tends to happen.

And how many are sitting in a warehouse because they were bought by bot scalpers?

Of course they're sold out. The problem is that they aren't being sold to actual people. They're being sold to bots and scalpers.

We've got a switch, and an old xbox one, and I just built a PC, so I don't think I'm ever going to spring for a PS5.  I wish they would port the spider man games to PC, it's the only draw for the PS5 to me.

I sorta kinda regret getting mine. I guess it's good to already have it for later, but the exclusives so far for it are awful and everything else is for both PS4 and PS5 so they're developed with the PS4 in mind and offer nothing that can actually use the PS5's hardware. There's literally no reason to own a PS5 yet and it's been out for like a year. If you have a PS4 you're enjoying the exact same experience as PS5 owners.

My main concern when I saw the SteamDeck was that I hope those joysticks are user replaceable.

Because, as far as I know, every single controller on the market from Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Logitech, etc. uses the exact same parts for the internals on those joysticks...and they all develop drift over time.

They are. Valve said it'll take a few months before they're officially available but they're on the way.

A joy con controller that isn't constantly falling apart and becoming unplayable would have been nice as well.

I never used my Switch enough to have a problem. I ended up selling it to a coworker last Christmas. I liked it just fine, but I ended up not using it enough to justify it slowly rotting in a box on my bookshelf and he had kids who would love to have it.

Got a PS5 by following the following twitter: https://twitter.com/mattswider?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

He tweets out drops by Walmart/BestBuy/Target/Sony 20 min before they start. It took me about a month of following before I was able to get two - one through Walmart and the other through Sony.

The upgrade from a PS4 was well worth the cost (paid retail). Graphics/load times are enhanced and fantastic. And I don't know if I can ever go back to a PS4 controller as the haptic feedback in the PS5 controller enhances gameplay in a way I can't even explain.

Forgot to add that I also sold my PS4 for $350, so the cost of the PS5 disc was about $300.

I'm not too worried about getting a PS5 just yet. My PS4 Pro got very little use compared to my Switch and PC so I'm not too worried about stressing finding the next gen.

/Also my PC is stronger than a PS5

Weird fact, hospital where I work blocks any website about gaming, but websites with the boobs are fine.  SO, I have to look up such links on my phone via cellular.

Anywho...

I guess the ebay dealers account for all these purchases.  I refuse to buy one at any mark up, and looking at ebay, they're still for sale for $900+, so I guess there's still a market at those prices.

/know of 2 people who actually own a PS5.

Same place they are now, since they sell every single one they make. Sales numbers would be the same, they just wouldn't all be owned by scalpers.

I'm sure they wanted to, but the chip shortage had other plans. It would just be another thing that would be too hard to buy, and too hard to sell exclusive games for.

I bought my PS4 for $100 on black friday. I would make a profit if I hadn't downloaded all my games.

//still kind of regret buying it

No, their sales numbers would be higher since they haven't reached a point of market saturation.

I've seen 1 PS5 and 1 XBSX in family members houses. Seem like neither of those people even played the damn things. Both were more concerned about getting free shiat on their FireSticks.

I just got a Switch today (technically yesterday, I guess), so I'm getting a kick out of this.

/Not an OLED one, I'll be using it on the TV the vast majority of the time so the extra $50 seemed wasteful
//First game for it is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which has been great so far.
///nit sure what I'll get next, maybe a Pokémon? I haven't played one of those since gen 3.

How could the sales numbers be higher if they already sell every single one they make?  They can sell ones that don't exist.

That's pretty much what I said. Like, who expects a company to care about them personally?

Valve is making a powerful gaming device you can add any OS to, repair at will with modular parts, and - best of all - they'll actually sell it to you!

Yep. Might be a top selling console, but, they're all locked up in scalper's garages or something. I got a GPU @ MSRP, and still couldn't seem to track down a PS5. My wife and I were going to get our son one as a combo Christmas/Birthday present, and amazingly, he was cool with waiting.

He finally gave up over the summer and we got him a Switch and some games (equivalent to what we would've spent on a PS5). I've been a Sony guy since the original PS, but they farked this release up so bad I think I'm done with consoles for good. I told my son to start saving now, and we'll build him a proper gaming PC when the time is right.

I actually got one a couple of months ago.  Got lucky with a Target online sale/instore pickup.
The one in my cart got snatched away, but I kept refreshing and got another.

When I picked up instore, I got all the way to the car and realized they gave me the no-disc version.  Luckily they still had the right one.

So what you want is for them to make more, like they're running an intentional shortage.  Of course you still probably wouldn't get one, but okay.
