This is like what, the 10th time something like this has happened?

Meanwhile, if the Biden administration spends $15 of government money towards his cousin's, sister's, boyfriend's, niece's butter braid fund raiser and the owner of the fund raiser donated $1000 to the Dukakis campaign 33 years ago, the GOP, Fox News, et al., are going to flip shiat.

The USDA told contractors that including the letter was mandatory. Food bank operators told the investigators the letter concerned them because it didn't appear to be politically neutral.

I work with a food non-profit. Some of our volunteers were "concerned" enough to go through every box and take them out.

We considered leaving them in during the toilet paper shortage, but the paper was of poor quality.

Barron Trump stole his father's face in an apparent manic episode, shocking and delighting onlookers at the Met Gala this year.

The Food to Families program, touted by Ivanka Trump, gave tens of millions of dollars to unqualified firms and was also used to promote then-President Trump.

No, it can't be. Does that sound like the behavior of a member of the proud and upstanding Trump family? Doing something so corrupt and despicable? I refuse to believe it!

Well now I'm just imagining Ivanka crouching in in the dark in a mop closet with dozens of stolen food boxes, cramming her maw with baloney slices and string cheese. Just really shoveling them down. Handful after handful of illicit food intended for the poor. She's barely swallowing it now. Just mashing it into her face.

Also she's crying the whole time. She doesn't know why she's doing it. But she also doesn't want to stop. She pauses now and then to puncture a ranch dressing packet and drain it into her mouth to help her chew. She has mustard in her hair and her dress is covered with just all kinds of stuff.

She flinches at every noise and whirls, staring in to the dark intently as if protecting her bounty from scavengers.

2021-10-19 9:19:16 AM
The article states that Biden killed the program. Was the program itself a bad idea, or was it just mismanaged? I could see a situation where it would be easier to create a different program than to kick out all the corrupt people in the existing one, but there are no details.

She stole in that they approved paying vendors that had no qualifications to provide food thereby providing less product to the poor while wealthy friends got paid.

The boxes included produce, milk, dairy and cooked meats - and many also included a signed letter from then-President Trump.

Of course he did, can't let a crisis get in the way of stroking your own ego.

I am surprised by this. (or at least by the headline, I didn't RTFA)

Trumps doing something for political gain, and not personal profit, would be a surprise, and frankly a bit of an improvement.

But I'm sure any political gain was just a stepping stone to profit.

I'm trying to determine if this is better or worse than the Trump administration itself hijacking and stealing PPE shipments destined for blue states when they were at the height of their crisis.

Was there any followup on that?  Lawsuits?  Compensation?  Anything?  Or did it just fall out of the news cycle like everything else in this goldfish-attention-span world?

The program would have been much more efficient if they had just dumped the money into the WIC program. It was a transparent grift to anybody that has ever worked distributing food.

Like the Indian caste system, there are technically thousands of levels. TFG has made it his life's work to disgust all of them, each in turn.

Sadly, this is more the result of someone trying to push the government at a pace it was not designed to operate at by using large sums of money and the private sector. Something the republicans believe is the solution to everything but ends up getting all screwed up.

Government is designed to work very, very slow and quality control is exceedingly expensive. At the national level, the amount of money available is staggeringly high, as the word billion is thrown around like a teenager on spring break throws away a c-note. Few people really can comprehend just how much a billion dollars is, let alone acquire it, disperse it, and get something tangible in return, especially a service. At the national level, they are starting to throw the word trillion around like a c-note

Yeah

I got one of those boxes.

All the food was substandard. Not sure how old that stuff was. The oranges were dry. Apples mushy. and so on.

I ate a couple things and got the runs.

I glanced at the letter, but didn't really read it.

We handled about six or seven of these trucks. While it was great having food to give out to local food banks and families, we did open every single box and remove every 'Trump' letter. The basic message of the letter was "You owe me thanks for giving you this food." It was as if the Orange One had packed each box himself and sealed it with a kiss.

The really messed up thing for us was that you never really knew what was coming in the boxes. You got a box of arbitrary food and we typically had way too much milk. We'd try to force families to take four or five gallons of milk because the trucks were overloaded and we didn't want it to go to waste. When we got desperate to get the extra milk somewhere to be used, we started running it to food shelves all over the Twin Cities. The situation was finally solved when there was rioting in Brooklyn Park. All of the grocery stores boarded up and closed so the demand on the food shelf there was overwhelming. They took anything we could get to them.

I give USDA credit for putting together pretty generous boxes, compared to what people usually get in this sort of program. There was milk, eggs, and meat (hot dogs or frozen chicken nuggets most of the time), as well as fresh vegetables.

The milk was already in the boxes we got, which made them very heavy and unbalanced. It made them hard to handle and prone to dropping. We had a bunch of leaky boxes from time to time, when milk jugs got damaged or eggs smashed.

Once you removed the Trump stink, it was a good program.

I went to a wildlife refuge once and watched a barn owl cough up a pellet full of mouse bones and fur.

I imagine that no matter what ivanka eats, it's going to come out a lot like that, except full of scraps of asian children's clothing along with the bones.
