mkelly1082: Ugh, blasted sportball reporters...they were never getting any of those big 3. Its not back to square 1, its continuing on with the process.

NY sports media (and a large chunk of fans) are obsessed with the idea that the best hires are big names that everyone's heard of. "Get Theo and Buck Showalter!"

Meanwhile, many of the best execs are people who casual fans haven't heard of til they got the job. Mets should've snagged Chaim Bloom in 2018.

And 7 of the 10 managers who made the playoffs are first time managers. A lot of the guys people have heard of are just chumps who got fired from their last job.

I mean i'm a mets fan....and....yeah the mets.....but......

You had 86. 88, was a great year as well, where they just missed.

99 They made the NLCS

2000 they made the WS
2006 they made the NLCS

In the last 6 years they have made the playoffs twice, once advancing to the world series.

That is 7 playoff appearances in 35 years, going back, almost 10 of which were before the wildcard even existed, and another 10 before the expanded wild card.

Its just when the mets are frustrating, which is frequent, its always in such a uniquely mets way.
