And out here in CA they has a protest at the Capitol that drew around 1k people. One of the students went off on his rights as an American. He sounded like a parrot reciting lines.

They all biatched it was their choice yadda yadda yadda. It looks like the school people are going to give them that choice: get vaccinated or stay home and make your own arrangements.

With all the livestock in Montana and so few people, Ivermectin should be easy to find.

Perhaps they need to double the dose.

Since USA is all about gambling and lottery, why not make a book on it?

Let 5 districts go no-mask.
Up against 2 districts with mask mandate.

Use the predictable failures for learnin'.
Use the money gained from bets for curin'

Is there something I'm missing as to why the federal government is allowing this to happen? We're in the middle of a public health emergency. Why are states allowed to force people to get sick and die?

Because we are more of a collection of tiny countries than a real country.  States are given VAST power over themselves.  The Federal Government can dictate things like interstate commerce and laws that congress passes.
Since the Republicans won't let anything pass about protecting school children from well...anything, nobody has even tried to start a bill about mask or vaccine mandates in schools.  Even though all of them have mandates for most/all vaccines created before Trump was president.

Because King George tried to tax rich colonists to help recoup losses from a very expensive war he'd just fought to protect them from the french, but that disrupted their illegal tea trade so the colonists sent Ben Franklin to France yadayada... civil war... yadayada the Great Depression yadayada... Crystal Pepsi yadayada... and that's why you never want to set foot in a Red State.

This is an argument that rears its ugly head frequently on Fark--that people who live in conservative areas deserve what they get for not leaving. It's a privileged, mean stance. Forgive me if you're not one of the ones making said argument in seriousness, but there are way too many here who do.

Honestly?

I'm vaccinated. I almost farking HOPE a goddamn evil strain shows up I winter, like original SARS which killed 25% of the infected. Goddamn I am so farking done with these people.

Vaccines are not new. We know they work. The germ theory of disease is a not a conjecture. We used to hold up Salk as a hero for defeating polio. We held up Jenner and Pasteur as heroes. We defeated motherfarking smallpox.

Now we have this, and through all our genius we managed a vaccine inside of a year. Yet now suddenly, vaccines are bad?

I want this to be done. I want people to stop dying. All available evidence is that the way for this to happen is for everyone to go get the the FREE vaccine that's available at Walmart and Walgreens and Safeway. If you refuse the vaccine you're shiatting on all the great geniuses that made it possible for you to live today. You're shiatting on society and freedom and hope. You are making the world a worse place.
