Oops. You missed, because your musket sucks. Now I'll rain a dozen arrows on you while you're reloading, that simple 12 step process that takes 20-30 seconds on a good day.

How about I flint you with my Baker rifle at 200 yards while your trying to lob arrows at me.

Archery isn't accurate at 200 yards.  But a decent 18th or early 19th century rifle is.

Having said that, the English Army of 1400 AD would have kicked the ass of the British Army of 1800 AD.  I've done the math.

It is accurate at 200+ yards if you are shooting into massed troops.  It's a lot easier to hit a mass of 1000 people than 1 person.

This is true, which is why I said the English Army of 1400 would kick the ass of the British Army of 1800.  Volleys of arrows starting at way beyond musket range would attrit the musket armed troops horribly.

But it is different when you talk about rifles instead of muskets.  Rifles can shoot accurately at that distance, far more accurately than a bow can.

I know because I shoot longbows and flintlocks.

The "experts", well, people who shoot arrows for sport or hunting, said at the time they couldn't believe he could have killed anyone, because the arrows looked like something he bought in a toy store.

Turns out he didn't.

He is Danish, because he has a Danish passport through his Danish mother, but he's born in Norway, and lived his whole life there. The way the articles keeps mentioning that he was Danish, as if he could even speak the language without sounding like a Norwegian, it sounds like he travelled from Denmark to Norway, to massacre some Norwegians.

You can have it one of two ways.
When crazy people do bad things, and turn out to have an ideology involved in their madness, you can blame their madness, or you can blame the ideology.
What you cannot do with logical consistency is blame one or the other depending on whether ideologies you like or dislike are the ones involved.
So, make up your minds.

Oh, yeah, I shoot an atlatl too.

Bows have more range and accuracy potential than an atlatl.  Plus, game can see you shoot an atlatl.  With a bow, if you miss, you can move slowly and not spook the game so you can get a second shot.  With an atlatl, once you shoot, whatever it is you're shooting at has seen you.  You can't hide it.

Atlatl darts are slower than arrows, but much heavier, so while I haven't measured it I'd guess they have approximately the same energy.  Again, atlatl darts work by slicing tissue with a sharp projectile point like an arrow*, they don't crush tissue like a bullet, so once you have enough energy to adequately penetrate your target you're golden.  Adding more doesn't gain you anything, unlike with bullets.

At some point (heh) I'm going to attempt to make a Clovis point.  And if I ever get good at it, perhaps a Folsom point which is (I'm told) an extremely difficult point to make.

*Except for things like blunts intended for small game hunting.

that's the point.

a modern machine gun isn't superior to a bow and arrow per se, but it ain't inferior per se either.  whatever hits the target hits the target.

Yes and no.  Rifles are a bit slower than muskets, but not as slow as you will be told in a lot of the literature.

I can load and shoot my flintlock rifles at least twice in a minute, and if I'm really in the groove, close to three times a minute.

The 95th Rifles, armed with the Baker Rifle like mine, were issued two kinds of ammo.  Loose balls, patches, and powder with tight fitting balls for accurate long range shooting, and standard carbine paper cartridges that were loose fitting and could be loaded as fast as a musket.

The cartridges were for when the had to shoot "on the line" like regular musket armed infantry, and the loose ammo when the were operating as skirmishers.
