Stabbed by five teens? So, they took turns or jumped at once for parallel stabbing?

What happened to the good ol' days when they would just steal their wallet and take off in the car?

Does ride share not use an app or something one of these dolts would have their phones or credit cards tied to?

Really? You ruined your life over an Uber ride? Why the driver? They're just trying to make some cash..

I'm impressed that she managed four. Five would be insane.

Wait, what are we talking about?

According to the article, the driver had dropped someone off nearby and the group just walked up and asked him for a ride.  To which I'm sure the driver's response was, "That's not how this works," and "There are too many of you anyways." To which the teens responded: <stab><stab> <stab> <stab> <stab>

A long time ago I used to driver for Uber. You are NOT allowed to accept passengers who do not make requests via the Uber app. Your rideshare insurance also won't cover anything that happens if you accept passengers outside of the rideshare app you're working for. Rideshare cars are not taxi cars that you can just hail on the side of the street.

Being a rideshare driver is a god damn scary and thankless job. There's a reason rideshare drivers avoid "da hood". It's not worth the risk for the amount of money you earn (usually around 60 CENTS per mile or lower in certain areas and you have to pay for all the insurance, gas, maintenance, while Uber or Lyft takes majority of your money in the form of "service fees"). Situations like in that news story happen pretty often. Actually, you can go on youtube now and watch a shiat load of Uber/Lyft dashcam videos of drivers getting mugged or assaulted.

I also hated afterschool hours. Minors are NOT allowed to order Uber rides, but you know damn well kids don't give a shiat about rules. I'd sometimes receive ride requests, but when I notice it's headed straight for a school I just cancel the hell out of it. Picking up kids disqualifies me from insurance as well. If something bad happens with a kid alone in the car, I'm screwed. Picking up inside schools is troublesome because traffic so bad and the distance you'll drive is not worth it, you'll be wasting 20 or 30 minutes earning $4 or $5 when you could be in the business district and picking up people to drive to the airport for $8 to $10 a pop.

One time I had a passenger before the whole bullshiat coronavirus lockdown happened. The guy started convulsing in the back of the car. Thankfully we were at the place where he wanted to go to and his friends picked him up from the car. Then I remembered about the coronavirus and feared the guy might be suffering from it. I always had a can of Lysol even before the coronavirus, so I immediately disinfected my car, inside and outside, even the god damn tires lol! After that, I just stopped driving and mooched off of PUA as much as possible. I don't care if I die, but I live with old people who would definitely die if I got the coronavirus. I usually blasted myself with Lysol as well just to be safe.

Whargarble.

Funny how you're so anti-gun but you'll break out the knife emojis when an innocent gets stabbed and you're feeling cute about it.

My brother-in-law drives Uber in a college town.  He cleans up on game days, but during the week he would often build a rapport with regulars who had ride once or twice a week at the same time, but it didn't pay out that much.  It doesn't take long to realize the rider can just Venmo you cash and cut out the middle man.

When the driver told them he could not fit them all in his car, an argument broke out between the man and the teens, according to police.
The dispute turned physical, and the driver sustained several stab wounds, according to police.

I am not blaming the victim, because the driver is just trying to mind his business and make some money, but you aren't going to win an argument or a fight with 5 angry teens.  Just haul ass, call the cops, and then pick up your next ride.

I can't imagine why anyone would do this crap. Driving for Uber or Lyft, I mean.

I don't trust other human beings enough to let them get in my car.
