Friends and I stopped in Dingle when we were in Ireland back in 2018. We saw signs all around for tours to see Fungie and a statue of him at the waterfront. We went to a pub instead.

My wife isn't big on bars or alcohol - after 48 hours in Dingle she had us doing shots with the band. True story .Loved the pub scene

Sounds like a great time! We were passing through while driving the Wild Atlantic Way. I have to go back to Ireland some day. It was amazing - the people, pubs, history, scenery.

I took one of those tours back in 1996 and yes, we saw Fungie. The cool thing about the tours, if you didn't see Fungie, you didn't pay. They collect the money as you get off the boat.

I also spent a lot of time in the pubs. My couple of days in Dingle were among the best of my entire trip. Great pubs, nice shopping at the local artist's studios (I still have the wool blanket I bought at the weaver's studio), fascinating history (took a tour with an archaeologist and 5 guests) and beautiful scenery.

Isn't this the same statue that turned into a Fark meme?  The one with the girl riding it?

From 2015, Tralee to Dingle, the loop, then back.
170 minutes time-lapsed to about 30. The time-stamps are set to EDT, so they're 5 hours off. (Add 5 hours to the displayed time to get local time.)

Part of a bucket-list event, namely driving a stick-shift RHD car. A Nissan Micra in this case.
