It's a NYP repost of a Sun link, and the only thing the Murdoch centipede of an article says is to avoid processed foods, potato chips, and deli meats and eat fatty fish like salmon instead.

It's a shame, then, that we have millions of tons of processed foods, potato chips, and deli meats, but can't be bothered to ensure that the environments which produce fatty fish remain intact and unpolluted then, huh?

The fun part, of course, is when the USGS reminds everyone that, no, salmon themselves are not endangered - we've got plenty in places where we don't fish! For the places where we do fish, well, that's a different story. That article, published mere hours ago, reminds us that Idaho's salmon may actually become extinct in a decade. Pacific salmon are being fished to death, and Atlantic salmon can no longer be fished at all in the U.S. That's why whole wild-caught Alaskan King salmon goes for $20 or more a pound, and even farm-raised Atlantic salmon runs $12 a pound or more.

When you see an article telling you to eat more fatty fish, like salmon, that article's telling you "don't buy poor people food - buy rich people food instead."

But how. They're practically infinite.

Yeah, that's what my doctor's been saying.

"Eat more salmon."

"I will if you pay for it."

Why do you people think salmon is "rich people food"? It's like 7.99/lb. Fresh. In Michigan. That's less than 4 bucks a plate (6oz serving size). Throw some rice and veggies on it and that's a damn good meal, for probably 5 bucks a plate. I couldn't get as full as that at any fast food place in existence for that price.

Rick Romero: Salmon are a type of fish; they are cold-blooded.
If you tried to spend your time swimming in <40 F. water your body fat would be as solid as a stick of butter in the refrigerator and being warm-blooded you would of course, be dead. Salmon by necessity need to be made of monosaturated oils that don't congeal at low temperatures so they can leap tall waterfalls in a single bound. They don't make it. They collect it for us in their diet. They are a middleman. You don't need Salmon for these omega 3's:
