It is not clear if Powell had received a booster dose of the vaccine. Covid-19 vaccines are a highly effective tool in preventing severe disease and death, but no vaccine is 100% effective.

More than 7,00 breakthrough cases of Covid-19 that have resulted in death have been reported to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through October 12. By that time, more than 187 million people in the US were fully vaccinated. That's one out of every 26,000 fully vaccinated people who has died of Covid-19, or 0.004%.

Of those breakthrough cases resulting in death, 85% were among people age 65 and older and 57% were among men, according to the CDC.

Hey Fox, keep on killing your viewers.  Good jorb.

Hey Mr. Fox asshole, the vaccine did not kill him, the disease it was trying to prevent did.   A vaccine that is ~90% effective in preventing or reducing the deadliness of a disease is not 100%.  Vaccinated people will still get COVID in rare cases.

Last I heard, ~98% of people dying from COVID are unvaccinated.  That means 2% of the deaths are in people that are fully vaccinated.  So, yes, while that number is low, it's not zero.  Powell was 84 years old.  Any illness in an 84 year old has the potential to be bad, vaccinated or not.

So stop with the "vaccine mandates are ebil!!!" bullshiat and fark the hell off!

Yes, but that was caused by Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden... He had chronic Obamatitis.

Colin Powell, the former secretary of State and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has died from Covid complications at the age of 84.

Powell was previously diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that hurts the body's ability to fight infections.

"General Colin L. Powell, former U.S. Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, passed away this morning due to complications from Covid 19," the Powell family wrote on Facebook.
"We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American," the family said, noting he was fully vaccinated.

10 seconds? They are going downhill, I thought they'd have a camera crew sitting next to him on his death bed ready to capture his dying words which they'd have coached him through saving "vaccines are bad".

I for one appreciate and respect FOX's views on being anti-vaxx as I rather enjoy seeing the impact it will have on their viewers. I would be even more ecstatic if hospitals could refuse care to anyone not vaccinated.

Fox News 6 months later: "Why have our ratings dropped so much? We dominate the old, unhealthy and unvaccinated population segment. Surely this segment is not dying left and right, so what gives?"

2021-10-18 10:08:49 AM
Fox is not the only ones reporting this wrong.  NBC, ABC, etc all keep reporting, "Powell, though fully vaccinated, died of COVID."  They aren't reporting the comorbidities that he has that affected his immune system.

Breakthrough infections for fully vaccinated folks happen, though rare, and deaths associated with them are even rarer.  He was an exceptional case.

The vaccine makes COVID about as deadly as a regular flu. People Powell's age can die of the regular flu. But hey, as long as we can kill some more Americans who cares what reality is, right Republicans?

In 2020 they were whining about the death numbers being inflated because of comorbidities. Nice to see they've come around.

This is only going to fuel their madness and delusions.

But you know what, I think at this point you've either already gotten the vaxx or you're never going to get it. If you haven't been convinced by now, then I don't think anything will convince you otherwise, even laying there dying, crying out for more UV lights, bleach and Ivermechtin isn't going to convince these people as they start gasping their last.

So, I don't really see this changing much, but, it gives the 24/7 "news" talking heads something to kick around for a while that is less stale than the usual drivel they're forced to peddle, so, get comfy.

Chyrons on CNN and MSNBC both clearly state that Powell died of Covid complications. The Fox News chyron simply said that he died and didn't list the cause. Fox hosts are also avoiding discussing how he died.

Vaccines reduce risk (massively). Masks reduce risk. Stop pretending that if something isn't 100% effective, that means it's 0% effective. We don't live in the binary dimension.

Multiple myeloma is a horrible disease with a low (but slightly improving) 5 year survivability rate, I'm not sure I wouldn't prefer dying of Covid over that.

It's rather comical because they're banking on the idea that it hurts the Democrats in 2022, but the faster they get their viewers sick, then the quicker the pandemic ends.  All pandemics end.  Influenza pandemics last about 2 years.  The last coronavirus pandemic was Russian flu, and the bulk of its infection was also 2 years.  The pandemic likely won't be top of mind by the time we get to November 2022.  This is such a shortsighted plan.
