If I could, I'd book Gettleman the first flight out of the tri-state.  The man is a disaster.  As with all things in life, there is one universal rule: evolve or die.

Gettleman thought evolving was for pussies; now he's the one bending over, spreading his legs and preparing to get screwed.

I feel more for both Judge and Daniel Jones:  victims of circumstance.

Gettleman has two great sins - not taking some team to the cleaners for the pick we got Barkley with and having a ton of lower picks to fill in all the gaps in the o-line, d-line and secondary, which we could have gotten, and going with Jones over the other QB picks that year. And of those the earlier was a much graver sin. Jones could be fine but he hasn't had a game in his career he wasn't playing behind the 8 ball yet.

He is uncreative. He does the simplest and most direct answer, which can be good but in this case it's death. It's predictable and the NFL lives on jumping on predictability.

Always fun to listen to WFAN and hear deranged guys yell about how the only good player on the team (Victor Cruz, Odell, Saquon) is to blame.

A few years back, Giants had the worst defense in football. All callers wanted to do was blame Odell.

I would just like to point out that the problem you referred to, which was confirmed to be a problem by the Weeners, is indeed the problem.

As much potential there was with Barkley, it's not the 1980s.  You can pick up a RB off the street and they'd gain 1000 yards if you have the right personnel along with him.

But yes, this was one where he should've traded the pick to go lower in that year's draft and pick up more picks along the way.

Jones was just like Barkley save for the fact that it was a weak QB class that year; this again was a prime spot to deal the pick for going lower in the draft and accumulating more picks.

He is uncreative. He does the simplest and most direct answer, which can be good but in this case it's death. It's predictable and the NFL lives on jumping on predictability.

That.

I am fully confident that any one of comedic actor Bret Gelman's various characters would do a significantly better job than what Dave Gettleman has done or will do in the future. A syphilitic low-life barn dweller would make better decisions.

I think that's been WFT's problem for a while as well.  Sure, spending 1st round picks on 'great' D-line (and LBs) throughout the years would have worked back then when it was mostly running plays, but not in "today's NFL".

I just saw the clip from the Arizona vs Cleveland game where Cleveland's #97 got a roughing the passer for pushing Murray 2 feet (not into the ground either).  That and many other 'roughing the passer' calls (like WFT/Chase Young got against the Falcons this year) are horrible; however, that's how the game is currently.

A team needs that 'elite' (at least top 10) QB to have a chance at doing anything.  Sure, that doesn't mean you could put Brady behind a crud o-line and expect to win a SB, but need to build around that QB.

Well, in the first few years of Snyder's ownership his problem was overpaying players who were good five years before their UFA year.

I remember seeing a clip of LT nailing Lynn Dickey during a MNF game but keeping his hands away from his body to show he wasn't trying to intentionally hurt him.  They need to show every damn ref that clip and tell them, "If you see that in today's game, don't penalize."

I understand that, after Aaron Rodgers got piledriven into the ground more than 5 seconds after he threw the ball many moons earlier, you wanna protect the QBs but this is overkill.

A team needs that 'elite' (at least top 10) QB to have a chance at doing anything.  Sure, that doesn't mean you could put Brady behind a crud o-line and expect to win a SB, but need to build around that QB.

Where Ernie Accorsi got it right with Eli Manning, Gettleman got it absolutely wrong on Jones.  From the pick itself (had Jones been picked in the 2nd round I would have no problem with it) to trying to acquire OL men to protect him.

That.

The other big problem is just getting picks isn't enough - they need intensive scouting to find those gems lower down in the draft. And Gettlemen's picks just. don't. produce. At least not in NY. I don't trust him with them.

Honestly, I would have been fine with trading either one of those picks for an NFL QB with some playoff experience. But being so uncreative, no effort was made.

I just have lost every bit of faith in Gettleman and I don't want to give him another chance.

Oh, and I don't trust the Mara family either - I'd take a chance with Cam Newton, but they never will, because they can't trust a black QB.

I'm done with Gettleman; originally I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he got hired after being fired by Carolina but now, yeah he's toast as a FO Exec.
