Better get to recycling then.  If you had enough aluminum before then you have enough now, it's very easy and efficient to reuse.

Anything that keeps the Brits from making British food should be lauded.

I think we've only got a handful left.

Original Land Rovers are aluminium. Lets melt those down.

So if the butter doesn't melt you can't put it in the pie?

Is there a reason everyone's using disposable pie pans? What's wrong with Pyrex? I've been using those exclusively for nearly 20 years, and my pie is pretty damn good.

If only there was some sort of larger economic cooperative they could join to help solve these problems....

Unfortunately the only local thing is the totally unacceptable full political union of the EU, which is nowhere close to being a "cooperative".
Plus of course this is (a) a PR puff from a pie maker trying to increase sales and (b) a worldwide issue caused by the worldwide increase in the price of aluminium. How do you think the EU could solve this?

Any baker with an ounce (or gram) of respect wouldn't use a tin-foil pie plate! They'd use their china ones they inherited from their grandmums.
Anyhoo, the bestest pipes EVAR are made in rectangular baking pans.
Behold the Melton Mowbray pork pie:

With the egg through it, it's a gala pork pie. And it's only a Melton Mowbray if it's from Melton Mowbray, otherwise it's a sparkling pork pie.

/And nobody's buying disposable trays for home baking, the shortage will be affecting manufacturers of pre-made pies.
