Just left a rally for his opponent that featured Senator Mark Warner and also Stacey Abrams. Get out and vote VA. We don't want a Trump clone running VA.

You mean that, like Republicans for the past half century, Youngkin has found a racist dog whistle that he hopes will bring white people out in numbers?

Yeah, it's been pretty clear what the debate on "Critical Race Theory" and "education" has been about.

"The FBI is silencing parents!"

I'll give you the context: School Board Meetings, and parents making comments that would earn a banniation from Fark, if lucky. Weapons afterwards at member's homes are optional.

You want to really hear them howl, schedule school board meetings all at the same time so the shills can only pick one.  Parents will have no such problem.  Some (I've heard that they've gotten less stupid* in NYS and do this), have already done this and you can really hear the shills (and their masters) crying.

/* I was going to type "gotten smart", but these are school boards we are talking about

Don't underestimate the number of scared, white people in Virginia.

This shiat with Republicans taking over school boards and setting the curriculum is farking terrifying. They are thinking of the long game. Soon enough they'll be telling students the Great Depression was caused by socialism, not the rich farking over everyone.

Summoner101: Don't underestimate the number of scared, white people in Virginia.

True, but they'd have to really overwhelm NoVA and a few other large population centers in the state.

None of these idiots even knows what CRT really is.  What they fear is simply accurate history.  They use CRT in the same way they use "far-left" when talking about issues that are actually fairly moderate or BLM or Antifa when basic issues of justice, equity, and equality are raised.  There's nothing radical about the idea of teaching accurate history, but they can't assail that head on without looking like the dunces they are, so they have to point to something that sounds radical in CRT, even though it really isn't, in order to perpetuate their FUD campaign.

What? They're not thinking of the long game at all. Their sole motivation is "grab power now".

The puppets might not but the people behind them most certainly are. The more ignorant , fearful and angry the populace, the better for them. And the worse for society in general.

Most likely because at least a few of them are the ones making the threats.

How was it?

Got my yard signs delivered today, after a disappointing number of people - tho no surprises - on my street have staked out their Youngkin signs.

Yes. The long Con, which is, coincidentally, part of the word Conservative.

Heh, I think it is pretty telling the Democratic Opponent is currently running a political ad that basically is a mic drop after playing a recording of Trump endorsing Youngkin.

I have to ask. Are most GOP voters just totally ignorant of civics?  School boards are elected from your community and have a big say on what is taught.  Typically they work with state and federal agencies on education and work with the PTO.  Good school boards don't violate the constitution, and do meet national educational standards  and or exceed international standards.
Is this Abbott wannabe saying school boards are appointed by some sort of mysterious foreign agency?  Chthulu?  Whar school board whar?
Oh, and giving power to the 5% of village idiots in your state or town will lead to ruin.
/Something elections, something something consequences.

George Fletcher, a father of four, said that when he was growing up in central Virginia, many of his friends were Black and race wasn't an issue people dwelled on. Now, he wonders whether his children could have that experience today. "I never heard anyone talk about racism," he said. "Now, with our kids in school, there's more division."

My experiences were a bit different growing up in a small town in Virginia. There absolutely was a good 'ol boys network going on. No one talked about it openly but I was aware of the discriminatory attitudes and the tension caused by a certain group of individuals although I didn't fully understand. What I did understand was that the owner of the General store and his friends were mean assholes. The volunteer fire department did not respond to fires at black folks' homes and sometimes someone's property would mysteriously catch fire if they were on the outs with the General store's owner. It was a small rural town but I wasn't all that far from Northern VA. I'm told it only gets worse the further south you go. Maybe it's better now? But growing up it was scary at times.

"American history, you know, it wasn't perfect. Things happened. We did have slavery and all that. That's true, and that's a bad thing," Fred Keapproth said. "The world is different today." "We learned our lessons, and we moved on," Peggy Keapproth added.

Did we? Maybe you should try asking black folks how much we've moved on.   :p

"Anybody who's going to tell me I can't have an opinion about what goes into my kid's body or what they get taught will never get my vote," said Ashleigh Mitchell, referring to potential mandates for the Covid-19 vaccines.

No one kicked up a fuss about getting vaccines when I was growing up. It was just a thing people did to protect their kids from a bunch of awful diseases. It was an accepted fact life. And yes everyone gets an opinion of what their kids get taught but if you want schools to teach flat earth theory, creationism, and deny the holocaust happened then I'm going soundly mock you before rejecting your opinions for the trash they are.

Well the FBI *is*.

And Youngkin is flooding the TV with ads calling that "silencing parents".

It's one of the most farked up, disingenuous things I've seen in a long time of watching DC Metro politics: I'm 63, and have lived here since I was 7.

THe GQP prove themselves to be odious slime more and more every day.  And while many of their supporters are well-meaning useful idiots, more and more of them reveal themselves to be odious slime day by day as well.
