There are bigger injustices in the world but I find this to be pretty sad. I can't say I'm on top of LSU news but yeah, as the article says there are other things going on than just the product on the field. LSU hasn't been great the past two seasons but that doesn't get you what is a firing in all but name.

I'd forgotten that Gene Chizik coached at North Carolina as a DC after taking a few years off but he hasn't coached in five years at this point.

Larry Coker lasted longer at Miami than I remembered and then took five years off before getting the UTSA program off the ground.

I'm sure it isn't what he wants to ponder in the moment but if egos can be put aside, he'd be a nifty addition for somebody's defense at a big boy program in a year or two once he clears his head.

Louisiana boy got to coach his team to a national title, hell of a dream that came true. At least on the public front it is awfully difficult not to root for the guy.

Two years of teaching (IE: Showing up a few hours to yell at kids twice a week---weather permitting) ..collecting even more state pension on a payroll.
Then retiring with a VERY NICE stable income of a couple of thousand or more a moth (state tax free) and only working a couple of moths a year. While plowing his salary into already bloated pension fund and having free health care. Why the fark not? It's a better option than most Americans get.

Headed back to South Central Louisiana State University?

Go Muddawgs!

I think there was a lot going on behind the scenes with this guy too. I don't think it has everything to do with the football team not being championship caliber with all those injuries.

Urban Meyer is going to have his pick of high profile programs to fondle co-eds at next year. USC, LSU and I'm guessing Texas (because they're that impatient in Austin).

USC would be my guess, his style doesn't really mesh well with LSU or Texas.

Yeah, but the pension payouts are small b/c of all the players who have to get paid out, too.
/hold on, I'm getting something from the producer...

The local sports editors would start assassinating the athletic department to prevent that from happening. And I'd understand.

LSU football has had extreme "discipline problems" for a very long time (the players are scumbags).  The Tiger Belles escort service/recruitment ambassadors only sets the tone.   But the Tiger Belle program isn't talked about.

When I was at LSU, a football player stomped another student in a bar parking lot, crippling him for life.

It's been insane for a very long time.  Lots and lots and lots of raping and violent crime and coverups.

USC's chancellor Folt is the one who came in to put out fires after the UNC scandal exploded and Thorp resigned in disgrace.  No way in hell she signs off on Meyer.

You might be right and you might be wrong, I don't know about those things though I'm sure they're true to some degree. What I do know is that you've been pretty weird with some seriously bizarre statements in the past which, if it was a bit, well done. Maybe you're being genuine but I truly don't know, I'm just not running with anything at face value here though.

I did see if anything came up concerning the "Tiger Belles" and couldn't find anything by that name. Colloquial term for "Bengal Belles?"

Alright, well, I'm at that level of high as fark where you grab a smoke from your pack, , grab your lighter, then use your left hand to cup your lighter (even though you're inside), look down and see 2 cigarettes, the one in your mouth, and the one in your left hand you forgot to light 5 minutes ago.

Enjoy foobaw. I'm gonna...pfff, do something else.

Don't know if they still have em but in the late 90s it was a heavy thing.  Teen girls prettier than Playboy and stacked like brick shiathouses dressed in cheer uniforms with Tiger Belle embroidered like an official LSU garment.  Very "legit."  And it was a legit recruitment program.

I worked at Louie's and they looked underage to me, escorting underage football talent taking em out on the town with a mini bill-size Manila envelope of cash.  Who was the coach before Denardo?  I saw em in the Denardo era too but before also tho.

I would think many schools do it or have done it.

Very sleazy system across the land and rotten to the core.  Every top tits program has damage control on lock as best they can.  Lots of violent and/or rapist talent.

Yep.  USC wants a boyscout they can control.  They kept Helton on for a few years past his expiration date because of it.  They'll keep cycling through promising OCs and DCs rather than picking anyone with a spec of controversy in their history.

Unfortunately, that means that Ed won't get a chance, either, despite the fact they should've picked him over Sark after Kiffin was fired

Well, if you're naming specific places you're undoubtedly more familiar with it than I am. I thought you might have been thinking of the Golden Girls being assigned to take care of the recruits.

Not sure about the underage stuff but again, I wasn't there. As far as hostesses go though, that is a widespread practice as you seem to be aware of. Not that it isn't sleazy of course but I've got no real problems with it as long as everybody is consenting.

I have a haaaaaaaard time believing a Southern school cares about rape.

If it did Baylor wouldn't have sports, period.

FWIW I ignored the Title IX thing. LSU has a huge problem beyond that (and yes, it predates Ed, but includes him).

"It created messes for him, like the time Orgeron pulled up to a woman at a gas station wearing exercise attire. "Hey, you look like you work out," he said, according to multiple sources. "We could work out together." The woman informed Orgeron she was married and pregnant, to which he responded, "Why does that matter?"

That woman was the wife of a high-ranking LSU official."

heh... Like i said... this goes way beyond football.

We all know what the culture has been like for college football for the past 30 years. Gators/FSU/LSU... etc etc... Sh*t, I think the Gators even considered opening up a 7-11 on campus that the players could rob so they didn't do it off campus. (My dad's old joke)

My biggest concern is legalized gambling and that we're eventually going to be paying the players. When we add that much more money to this already toxic brew... Jesus Christ. The fact that everyone relies on these kids playing ball to make money does not exactly lead to any kind of healthy environment.
