There is no normal to return to. The current economic problems will be skillfully managed to minimize damage and provide some small recovery and stability just in time for the GQP to highjack the success that the Dems have managed.
Remember, the mission is to discredit and destroy BOTH parties.

Yeah, that's the sort of bone stupid take I expect from Sunday mornings.

Yes

If you told me that this was lifted word for word from an RNC press release, I'd believe that.

But the real outrage in the media is that nobody knows what is in build back better, while the media steadfastly refuses to discuss it because fighting over the price tag makes for much better tv.

/there's blame on both sides for that last bit
//but when was the last time you saw a news segment that even made an effort to describe it

Every time I hear how Biden is failing to get his message out I am left wondering if the "reporter" saying the words has any self awareness that they are the one who has failed. Every minute telling us that is a minute they could have spent talking about the actual issues, but didn't.

2021-10-17 11:25:34 AM
The key point is that the midterm election is over a year away. You can stop listening after that.

Why wouldn't you presume they do it deliberately?

Every time I see this stuff I presume they agree with it or their boss does and makes them.

The culprit aiding in the collapse of America is the whining duplicitous "reporter". Unfortunately you cannot friend the "reporter" in red for future contact.

Why would it be a problem? The Democratic legislators are still the only one of the two parties trying to actively do something about either issue.

This is the guy that thinks wanting to do good things for Americans makes you a "brown shirt".
I think it is safe to say conservatives are his heroes.

Yep.  That and the fix is already in.

It's so gross to me how much people are controlled in their thought processes by mass media and social media, and yet they still partake, they still torment themselves, and they still allow people to think for them.

Look, the problem isn't Chucklefark Todd. It's humanity.

2021-10-17 2:09:04 PM
Chuck Todd is seriously the most underqualified person on television. I've never seen someone so wrong about everything... even on Fox. He's a farking embarrassment. I don't understand how he is on television at all, let alone hosting what used to be a venerable show.

2021-10-17 2:09:50 PM
He's not wrong.

As much as I hate to admit it, this is what I came to post. Chuck Todd is terrible, but this IS the likely outcome.

There's no way to honestly say what's going to be it, the negotiations over what's in it aren't even done yet.

The thing I kept wondering while watching that is, does Chuck Todd know he's a hack but doesn't care, or is it more of a Chauncey Gardner situation where he's some hapless clod who stumbled into success.

UberNeuman: If there isn't a Bothsides (ChuckTodd) tag then there should be one.

That implies he actually provides the leftist perspective. Which he doesn't. Seems to be moderate liberals and HARD conservatives.

Things are looking bleak for the Democrats in the midterms.

Unless everyone is willing to walk ten miles in the snow uphill both ways in order to vote.

2021-10-17 2:17:39 PM
Who is this Todd turkey? Who made the call to put him at the top of the Punditry Schit pile?
I remember when being the anchor of Meet the Press actually meant something before it became a roost for a toady corporate shill.

2021-10-17 2:18:44 PM
Maybe I'm interpreting this differently from everyone here, so forgive me, but this doesn't seem all that outrageous to me. He's not saying this is the fault of the Biden administration--he's saying that, since the Democrats are the ones in the White House and hold majorities in Congress, ultimately it's their responsibility to fix it, and they're the ones who will pay the political price if they don't.

That seems pretty standard to me--the party in power is largely seen by the public as the ones to blame when things aren't going right, as irrational as they might be. We see this cycle all the time: "Why haven't the Democrats cleaned up all of the messes [that the Republicans created, but we're not gonna admit that] yet?"  Is it reasonable? No, but voters aren't reasonable.

There's a mandate in the constitution to promote the progress of science with limited copyrights.

But copyrights got butchered into a system of maintaining entertainment profitability which drowns out science.

The change made America stupid.

Except that you haven't demonstrated how that's actually occurred.

Hint: it hasn't

By all measurable metrics, the USA is better off than it was regarding both the economy and the pandemic in October 2021 than in January 19th 2021.

And would be in even better shape if Republicans, voters or politicians, actually chipped in and did their part by getting vaccinated en masse in all states, and by helping to pass the Infrastructure Bill.

It's not like Americans can't see the Democratic POTUS and legislators trying to do more.

It's obviously going to be the outcome. According to approval polls, approval among the independents have dropped tremendously over the past 4 months and even the Democratic faithful are starting to lose faith.

The scare of that second COVID peak hit many people kind of rough, especially with no real substantive response. Schools are still open, kids are still at risk. I hear at work people with unvaxxed kids are refusing to come into the office (and I don't blame them). All of these strikes are people realizing they have to fix their contracts for themselves because the government isn't gonna help them regulate corporations or even raise the minimum wage.

With the reconciliation package still stalled by at least 3 Democrats - and no Republicans are needed to pass it - people are becoming disgruntled.

Unfortunately that means they'll either return to Republicans or not vote. A third party would be better but Democrats and Republicans have been so deriding the third parties because that would mean losing the power that their donors hold dear.

In a nut shell, Chuckie isn't wrong, it just sucks.

Gotta love that "wuh whoa! These guys only just brought us out of the dumpster fire the last guy created!! Well the only logical choice is to put the pyromaniac garbage men back in power." mentality of American politics. This dumb shiat is why this country is slowly choking out.

If this were a one-off statement, formed out of worry or sympathy for the future of the nation, and including discussions with Democrats about how things can get solved in DC... hey, sure. Just the general "this will cost Dems in 2022 if nothing gets done" is not incorrect. I've said it.

BUT, This is another in a line of consecutive weeks of "Democrats are f*cked and myself and a bunch of Republicans are here to tell you why" from the Todd and his conservative friends at Meet the Press.

I would at this rate expect Chris Matthews to do a better job as the political head of NBC than Chuck. That's how bad it has become.

Between the guy who may not get a $3 trillion bill passed because of greedy corporate stooges, and the guy who let 3/4ths of a million people die because it made his ego look bad, I'm good with the former, thank you very much.

RasIanI: By all measurable metrics, the USA is better off than it was regarding [...] the pandemic in October 2021 than in January 19th 2021.

But not compared to October 16 2020. We are currently at 1.5x the number of new infections from last year and 2x the number of deaths. And we're about to hit holiday shopping and travel season which caused last year's spike.

Republicans did help pass the Infrastructure Bill. It's waiting in the House where Democrats refuse to allow it to be voted on. Any idea why the Democrats are refusing to pass an infrastructure bill that will help Americans?

Biden did run on a pledge to return to normal. The problem is the most dysfunctional thing in DC are the Republicans, something he has zero power to change. So how is that Biden's fault?

Chuck Todd likes his job so he does the 'Both sides are bad' BS because if he properly apportioned blame, Republicans would stop coming on his show.

?
US Deaths from Covid-19 were 380k when Trump left office, most from before a vaccination was developed.
US Deaths from Covid-19 are expected to reach 760k by the end of this year.

It is Biden's fault because it was a stupid and naive thing to run on. Or he was just lying.
