10 years ago is vintage? My pots and pans must be downright antique, and my Corningware is paleolithic.

/if you're old enough to remember it, it's not vintage

For real. Even back in the day, though living 5 mins from Concord made shopping easy. Actually everything about the state of Delaware is designed to make shopping easy.

Grew up in Chadds Ford and worked in Wall to Wall Sound & Video in Concord Mall the day NIrvana's Nevermind came out. Rode the bus from Salesianum. My job was to put sale stickers on the baby penis.

Oh ... and Cafe Riveria was going to close last year and people lost their collective minds.

Glad I don't live in that area anymore, but miss it from time to time.

I can smell every frame in that video.

Why do I have such nostalgia for a time when I was a skinny nerdy teen with no girlfriend and no hope of finding one for several years?

I go to Rehoboth Beach every year as I have a friend who invites the wife and I down for a week at the end of the summer. It's a beautiful place with lots of biking roads, good beaches, good restaurants  And the Dog brewery not far away which is always a side trip.

Agree with that.  I worked at the Commerce Bank up on Naamans and lived near Glasgow.  There was a snow storm on the last Saturday before Christmas and Markell waited until the last possible moment to declare a state of emergency.  Normally it takes 25 minutes each way, almost an hour in the morning and an hour and a half in the early afternoon.  Jack was not going to close the malls early that day.

I literally came here to mention "can smell this video".

What you were longing for was better times, in a manner of speaking. We had an abundance of plenty and you could never be bored at a mall, that was by design. It was the perfect distraction for people who literally had nothing else going for themselves and nothing better to do. It was a weird sort of artificial "hope on display" of what could be.

Now we live with "what really is" and the very consequences of that time and mindset. We were young and innocent and clueless, and now we're stuck with the unpaid bill and empty shelves and nothing left to look forward to so instead we look back. It's only natural. Every generation does it.

Hey now, it's still a great area. Except for the random "freedom" rallies that pop up on the corner of rt. 1 and 202 from time to time. But it's easy to ignore the whole dozen of participants.

Because early phone cameras were far, far worse than anything even the VHS era foisted on us.

I was shocked to go to Christina just before the pandemic and there were barely any vacancies. It was the healthiest mall I've seen in years.
