Cup holders.

If I don't know how many cup holders it has, how can I gauge my excitement?

Now if I can sit in the pilot seat and make my way across the country safely than they've accomplished something. It wouldn't matter though. Waaaay out of my transportation budget.

For a measly $5 million?  I'll take 2!

You mean private minivans.  You left the private part out to make minivans seem somehow inferior to having your own private jet.  It could be a really nice minivan.  And you know it uses less gas.

So, that's rated for a distance just above that of Boston to Shannon.  If you're flying private, are you allowed to do that or are there restrictions?

2021-10-17 8:24:13 AM
The maximum range is almost assuredly unattainable with a full cargo or passenger load.

Why wouldnt you be allowed to as long as you file the correct flight plan?

Does it play combat? It is always good times when you land a 5 bank shot and knock your little brothers tank through the wall.

I'm still a bit freaked out by this thing:

Three pairs of wings, single-piece carbon fibre body, 70% lower fuel consumption, 10560 mile range (clicky)

A bit strange that they would depict it apparent cruising altitude with gear extended, but whatever.

More traditional stuff like that Honda Jet isn't going anywhere though.

I'm counting a grand total of one engine.

That's going to be an issue

You mean that image and PR created by a high school student? One that doesn't have the foggiest clue about aerodynamics (look at the sharp wing-body joins. Super draggy without a fairing (x6))

This will surely resort our broken cocaine supply chain, which has recently been stepped on with Chinesium fentanyl.

The "range" map on the front page shows it can fly from Colombia to NYC - which makes me speculate who their target market really is...

That computer generated image is as real as that plane will ever be.

Imagine what range they could get if they bothered to raise the undercarriage at cruise!

/I'd also agree that that plane will be very good for the environment since it will never, ever, use a single gallon of jet fuel.

Taxiing, taking off, and landing with bicycle landing gear without any outrigger landing gear would be really fun.

2600 was always superior to the Odyssey... but things will get interesting when the Intellivision comes along.

2021-10-17 7:31:49 PM
Despite their "unparalleled fuel economy" claims, the Odyssey probably uses less for the same distance.

I think I made that plane in Airline Tycoon Evolution.

Yes, they do claim two engines and that's what the scoops are for.

I could actually see a plane having two engines with scoops on the side like that where one or either of the scoops could be retracted. Use both engines, scoops wide open, for takeoff, then at cruise shut down one engine and cruise on the other, with the shut down engine scoop closed to reduce drag.

The question is whether the weight and complexity, and possible reliability issues, would be worth any fuel saving by cruising on one engine. With todays aircraft a shut down engine windmilling is just huge drag.
