It's not about who votes, it's about who counts the votes.

Stalin probably didn't say that, but whoever did was exactly right.

Unless we get that voting bill through the Senate, we're probably f*cked. Even then we probably still ate in some places.

Because we either don't want to belive it. We don't want to challenge our comfort. We don't want to be the first to take the steps necessary, or are not in a position where those first steps are reasonable. Or because we have been confused by all the noise.

Mostly because we are all just trying to be good germans get through our day.

Unfortunately no. They are not. They are all too human. They are us. Anyone who sees their flaws and assumes somehow that makes that specific group somehow lesser than themselves or their personal in group is only fooling themselves to help better define their in groups and out groups.

We must remember that humanities capacity includes every vile aspect too, else we find our in group becoming the next republican party.

Slave morality is one hell of a drug.

You guys are so accustomed to losing, that you cannot imaging a world where you win at anything. Like a rat in a skinner box, afraid of hitting the food switch because they're expecting the shock, Democrats and their supporters have already given up, not even a year after taking the presidency and senate. There's no fight in any of you, you've all just already resigned to the fact that you're going to lose.

It's not 2024 that's the immediate concern.

Kelly is up for re-election in 2022.

They just spent a butt load of tax dollars on an "audit" with the impressive result that proved Biden won by MORE votes than originally reported. These guys are not bright.

More like we believe rancid Republicans when they tell us they are going to cheat to win by passing state legislation making it "legal" to do exactly that.

Why a great patriot like yourself isn't up in arms over the pssing of such legislation is a true wonder, isn't it?

It's the comfort thing. Y'all are warm in the winter, cool in the summer, have all the broadband you want, and have fridges stocked and houses packed with nice enough things. America doesn't want to risk all that. Because the solution involves general strikes, civil disobedience, and the resulting injuries and death, things like power, water, gas getting shut off, etc., etc.

You're a rich country, or at least your potential change angents are. You'll tolerate a lot of shiat so long as you're comfy and fed.

It's more than that though- we have a 200+ year history of (mostly) successful elections.  We've had serious controversies in the past but even the worst like Hayes' election still had everyone accept the results at the end.

We've never had an election where the losing party has simply said "We don't accept the results, we're staying in power" and had the ability to do that.  2020 came damn close, but there were enough honest people in charge of elections that Trump failed.

In 2022 and beyond that simply won't be the case.  The GQP has figured out that changing out a few "minor" positions is enough to simply throw out an election when they don't like the results.

What happens then is anyone's guess.  My assumption is that it's going to work in 2022 fairly well and give the GQP substantial majorities in the House and Senate because most people just can't be chuffed about non-presidential elections.  However, the 2024 (D) candidate will win the presidential popular vote by 8-10M people and the election will still come down to 3-4 states due to the EC.  When GQP pols running the elections in those states throw out the results and appoint their own electors due to "fraud" that's when the SHTF, especially when the SC tosses the cases back to the states.

Will enough people in the US literally revolt at that point?  Probably not, but unless they do the US ceases being a democracy.

I know you're referencing presidential elections specifically, but there has been rampant and blatant election tampering throughout the history of this country, generally done by white people, especially the KKK, against Black people running for office or trying to (legally) vote. Hundreds of Black people have been lynched in order to ensure that elections were won by white people, including dozens being forced into buildings and then burned to death.

Hell, the US has even seen a successful coup by white people to oust a legitimately-elected Black government--and nothing was done about it. None of these white people ever faced any consequences.

There are still lots of people living who were alive when many of these events happened.

So yeah, all we've really done is move from physical violence to legislative bullying.

The core belief here much worse than thinking the election was compromised in a practical sense. Instead when they cry about fraud what they're really saying is that their political opponents are not legitimate and that the people who vote for them are not Real Americans.

They're increasingly clear that they mean this in a very literal sense, regardless of what a birth certificate or naturalization certificate says.

You see this as you get further into Nationalist theory - when they start to talk about the "nation" being the people with a "common set of values and beliefs", separate from "the government" that administers the running of the country. They hold "the nation" is themselves and like minded people of a far right persuasion. It follows then that people who don't agree with them are not members of "the nation" . They're foreigners, and any government they elect is to be seen as a fraudulent and hostile foreign force.

In some places, they even put people in JAIL for committing election fraud.
