Worse than that, he's in the business.

Just a reminder that Senator Joe Manchin and his son own a coal company that has earned them millions of dollars. https://t.co/g0vEnWDRTk

He should be screamed at everywhere he goes until the day he dies. His office, his house, his yacht, and yes, even public f*cking bathrooms. He should not experience moment's peace. Seems a low price to pay for sacrificing the fate of our - all - species for a few bucks.

That's what the map looks like for 2022. If we managed to flip two seats in one election cycle in Georgia, then I have faith that other states can step up and flip a seat or two or three. Democrats need to be balls to the walls with the GOTV campaign. There has to be numbers so damn high that even SCOTUS justices will refuse to overturn the will of the people.

At the same time, Congressional Dems need to quit playing around and set a legal foundation for voting rights. I'm tired of these folks like Manchin enriching themselves while they piss on the rights of the people who put them in office. I honestly hope that dude loses his next election. People talk about how Dems need his seat. fark his seat. Get other ones and make his irrelevant.

Manchin isn't even a True Human.

2021-10-16 6:18:44 AM
Manchin is a garbage blue dog that would fully embrace the GQP if pushed hard enough.

Sanders is a Dem only when running for president.

2021-10-16 6:24:12 AM
Sanders has downplayed that he, Manchin and Sinema need to get in a room together to try to work out their differences, recently telling a reporter who floated the idea that "this is not a movie."

Yep, it's not a movie. It's an extended ad campaign for each to ensure their own re-election, party and control of the senate be damned.

2021-10-16 6:25:06 AM
Thing about Manchin, is that he has to know he is never gonna win reelection.  Doesn't matter how conservative he is, he has a D after his name, and he is from West Virginia.  It was only a fluke that he got elected in the first place.  His state is gonna pull the lever on someone with an R after their name, even if that person is technically not as conservative as Manchin.

In the meantime, Manchin is just selling out to as many special interests as he can, because he is never going to have the opportunity to sell out after his term is over, so he has got to make the best of it that he can now, and make arrangements to get a bunch of no-show lobbyist gigs once he is out of office, to pay for the dive he is taking now.

$3.5 is so freaking small compared to the cost of the tax cuts for billionaires and and least the $3.5 trillion would help working Americans and improve our infrastructure.

Dems need to find a way to show people that.

2021-10-16 6:53:23 AM
I just can't get over that people are in any way surprised by Manchin. I could have predicted that there would be senators decades ago that there would on if the Senate had a 50-50 split during a time of especially angry partisanship.

What is more, Manchin is doing exactly what he promised his voters he would do.  A senator is going to care more about the wishes of those who gave him his job than his party.

The only real solution is to win enough senate seats so that one or two senators from red states can't gum up the works while not losing the House. It will be very difficult.

The estimated 10 year cost of the Trump tax cut was $2.3 Trillion. I get the spirit of your comment but your sense of the numbers sucks. That said, money spent on infrastructure has a way of coming back in tax revenues as the money circulates which mitigates the cost.

Somehow they managed to add $9 trillion to the debt during supposedly the best economy the world has ever known, according to TFG.

Your sense of numbers sucks. Infrastructure spending has a way of helping ALL Americans while tax breaks enrich fewer than 5% of Americans while hurting the country's future.

The tax cut comes straight out of the GAO bottom line, dollar for dollar -- and it doesn't circulate  except in off-shore bank accounts.  $3.5T invested in the country and its people will create tax revenue through jobs and purchasing.

Yes. Being a Democratic Socialist to allow the people to vote in government programs for what they need to help themselves is alot better than the Conservative Democrats and Republicans who go: "Economy is bad, give tax cuts to the wealthy. Economy is good, give tax cuts to the wealthy."

Make a simple amendment to the bill. If both a state's senators vote against it, they get 0% of the funds they otherwise would have. 50% if their votes are split, and 100% if they both vote for it.

Duh. I said as much about the advantage of the infrastructure spending. Yet the OP falsely claimed that $3.5T was small compared to Trumps tax cut. It isn't, it's actually larger. Nevertheless, the infrastructure spending is better than the tax cut. That spending pays dividends. But as far as naked raw numbers, the $3.5T is the bigger number.

Many of the people here railing against Joe Manchin we're celebrating Bernie's loss of the Presidential nomination both times.

Earlier this week, Joe Biden told progressives he expected them to capitulate to Joe Manchin to the tune of a total price tag of $1.7-$2.2T, potentially cutting the bill in half.

Though, I don't believe that Joe Biden wants it to pass. I think he only wants the infrastructure bill to force America yo pay toll roads to private corporations.
