(ESPN)   The NFL has investigated all the emails, and found it was only Jon Gruden being racist and homophobic. Trust us. Pinky swear. Honest   (espn.com) divider line

Non-story, isolated incident, overzealous staffer, he was just there to bring coffee to the other coaches.

"Gruden added that he has referred to people he believes are lying as "rubber lips" in the past"

Yeah, this is a massive cover up, not quite what Barr did with the Mueller report and Epstein, but in the same category.

no other current team or league personnel to have sent emails containing racist, anti-gay or misogynistic language similar to messages written by Jon Gruden

Suspiciously specific, as if there might be other types of morally abhorrent or criminal activity in there.

Anyone want in on the pool for which NFL exec this was sent to for "edits" before publishing? My money is on Goodell.

It's the Colin K emails they don't want getting out. Likely some emails show proof of collusion to keep him from getting signed, which would be an easy lawsuit from the NFLPU. As it is, they already have grounds to sue over the ESPN emails, but ofc since ESPN controls sports news no one is talking about how the network and their most important NFL reporter run stories by the NFL before publishing them, including stories designed to influence negotiations circa 2011.

Why would the Gruden emails get out but not other ones?  Gruden was good for the NFL money and ratings.  If they were going to cover something up, it would have been his emails.

I guess they are working with the loophole that Bruce Allen was fired in 2018 and was the recipient or sender in all of the emails that took down Gruden. I mean, who else would Allen have sent such emails to? It's not like Bruce Allen wouldn't have spoken a lot with the WFT front office or owner. /s. It's clear that Bruce Allen is intended to be the WFT fall guy since he conveniently no longer works there and Gruden is just an unlucky but very deserving bystander caught by the shrapnel.

There's nothing we can do about it.
So yeah...go Seahawks!

I don't think it's really outside the realm of possibility that Gruden was the only one in this data dump stupid enough to actually write this stuff down in emails. Most adults have been taught to keep that talk verbal only.

Because Gruden is a coach/announcer and a lot of the other emails were written by owners.  He's the hired help, not one of the club

10 years/$100m for a guy w/ a .511 win percentage. That's a conspiracy theory that's actually makes sense.

I believe them. Now that doesn't mean they aren't those things, it just means they're smart enough to know you don't put it in writing.

Yeah, no kidding

They said "current" coaches and staff, which is an important distinction.

Gotta remember that a lot of the old guard are gone, most coaches in the NFL are getting much younger and are much more in tune with society. Even if they aren't, it's much more likely that they are aware of technology and the pitfalls that exist with them, and wouldn't write anything like that.

Gruden also strikes me as a guy who thought he could get away with murder because he was treated so highly within the NFL and outside the NFL. Oops, guess that didn't pan out so well for him.

It would be smart for every NFL team, as well as any business partner or news media company to do an internal search of their email archives to find any emails received from or sent to Bruce Allen's WFT account - to see what the NFL investigators might have found but hasn't yet been released.

I have to agree.  I'm having a hard time not believing not only that the emails contained fire-able offenses for other NFL personnel, but that there were other dirty emails written by Gruden that implicated other NFL employees who don't want to take collateral damage.

No doubt Gruden deserves to go, but the release of those emails which implicate Gruden, and only Gruden, feels like only a very small part of the picture.

I think the NFL's overdue for a players' strike.
