Who has the job of choking out the tadpoles? I feel like you have to be a bit of a sociopath to do that job.
Also what the fark scientists? You need to find something that brings brains back to life, and you go to 'lets smother some tadpoles and then stick shiat in them'
This is how you know I could never do the science. I would never have thought of combining algae and murdered tadpoles.

Hey! Some of us aren't big enough to choke chickens, stop body shaming.

I thought the collective global behavior of anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, and lockdown protests was how the zombie apocalypse started.

Not concerned. How scary could zombie tadpoles even be?

Was this research funded by cryonics companies, trying to find ways to jump-start defrosted brains?

The team admits this concept is "highly innovative" and "potentially detrimental". If the microorganisms grow out of control, they could very well create an army of undead whose only desire is to kill the living and feast on their brains.

the frogs were starved of oxygen until their neurons went silent

Okay then.

""In the future, phototrophic microorganisms might provide a novel means to directly increase oxygen levels in the brain in a controlled manner under particular eco-physiological conditions or following pathological impairments," the authors write."

Inject algae and glowstick fluid into my brain to make myself immortal. Got it.

Remember that time in school when you shiat your pants? No? That's OK, we'll restore that memory and many others to keep you awake at night.

In the wonderfully schlocky movie "Re-animator" they used glowstick fluid to portray the serum used to reanimate corpses.

Maybe they knew something we didn't.

First of all, nobody was asking you to do any science. Grant money is rare enough as it is.
