Not if Biden ok'd it first.

"Oh hey, I heard Bernie said some things. Pity, that. So, you still a No on my bill?"

That would be slick if my imagined brain scenarios actually happened.

Eh, I'm still on board with harassing this jackass as much as possible.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Manchin happily undermining Biden's campaign promises.

The most public messaging we've seen about this, and it's not even from an actual Democrat. Isn't that kind of embarrassing? I mean, for the Democrats? That the person doing the most to stand up for your party and your voters isn't even a member of your party?

It would be nice to believe this would matter to Manchin in a productive way, except for the part of that where it would mean I was hopelessly naïve. I've worked hard at challenging those things I'd like to believe versus reality to establish a realistic perspective. Having done that, I certainly hope that there's more to the strategy to get Manchin and Sinema on board.

Absolutely adore Manchin using "self-declared independent socialist" as some kind of dig when he's a conservative stooge who's basing his decision-making process on how much cash he gets from Exxon but doesn't even have the guts to admit it and change party.

Bernie, in all his abhorrent independent socialistic evil, is more a Democrat than Manchin. fark that toad.

Imagine if we reinstituted literacy tests for voting --- except the tests are administered to candidates to see if they even understand the Constitution? And to make it even better, we don't administer the tests until after the voting with the runner-up getting the nod if the leading candidate fails to pass the test. 45** would have been disqualified. Think of some of your choice idiots in Congress --- gone. Voters would have to temper their choices to pick candidates that could pass. It would be a reality check on what they would like to believe about their chosen candidate(s).

\ bad news is that Cruz would pass the test but at least we wouldn't have an Alabama football coach

That's actually a dubious assertion, and it doesn't rescue the odd usage of 'consolidating'.
Biden's eventual win of the primaries was pretty much settled with the endorsement from Clyburn. That locked up most of the South. From that point on, it was really a question about how long it would take for Biden to go over the threshold and the "fighting" to continue. Amy and Pete made a calculation that an earlier resolution to the primaries would be important to coming together to focus against Trump.

Team Trump had decided that Bernie would be the opponent and preferred him because they had an "anti-socialism" campaign all ready to go. They figured that many older GOP women who were uncomfortable with Trump would hold their nose and vote for him rather than vote for a "socialist". There's polling data to suggest that would have worked and 45** would likely have been re-elected. One can obviously read the tea leaves differently and we'll never know for sure.

I actually voted for Bernie over Joe right after Pete and Amy pulled out. Otherwise, I would have voted for Liz. I was convinced my State would go for Joe and I just wanted to give the more progressive wing some added juice in my small way. But at that time, I was convinced Joe would be the winner of the primaries unless he had a medical crisis in the near future.

If progressives want to take over the Democratic Party they need to start with their own local Democratic Party meetings. Complaining that the corporatists run the party and only back corporatist candidates is stating the obvious. If you want Bernie to win you need to be attending your local Democrats Club brunch every month. That way, when the officers are elected, YOU become District President. That way when the state officers are elected YOU become the state party treasurer. This is the only way. There is no stirring revolutionary song, only hard work.

Also

Still, like I wrote before, you can't have a rational discussion with someone addicted to being angry. Am I angry that Bernie didn't give Biden a more full-throated endorsement? Yes. But I voted for Bernie. I would have preferred him to Biden. I would have preferred Warren more but by Super Tuesday it was obvious that she had no chance and it was Biden or Sanders, so I voted Sanders and Biden walloped him. So now I'm behind Biden in order to beat Trump. Because that's the reality in front of us.

They did in Nevada. The old guard cleaned out the bank accounts and pillaged the offices on the way out the door as a sign of good faith.

Seriously?
If you had provided some plausible context in which "consolidating" worked in the sentence, it would have rescued the attempt to use that verb in that way. But it just doesn't work semantically.
The quote was "imagine if the democratic party stopped consolidating their power to fark over progressive candidates."

The complaint is most often that one wing of the Democratic party misuses administrative offices and funding, effectively putting their thumb on the scales rather than letting voting by party members pick candidates in primaries. That's not "consolidating". The best you could do is to change the sentence to make a claim about the DNC rather than the democratic party so that it's the insider group consolidating their power by steering money to those who support the old-school insiders. However, that isn't what was said. That rescue requires changing the subject of the sentence which is a rather radical edit of a sentence.
