I wonder if more people will listen to us now when we try to tell folks about the racism we're seeing against us.

Meanwhile, we have to fight these bullshiat laws in Georgia and Texas because of Joe Manchin's white supremacy supporting ass...

Not defending TFG farking it up deliberately, but interesting historical tidbit: this has happened before.

After the 1890 census, New York City was pretty sure that the census has dramatically (perhaps deliberately) undercounted city residents, especially new immigrants, so they did their own census, conducted by the police department. It found the federal census had undercounted NYC by about 15%.

Of course there's no way to be certain today who was missed, because the 1890 census burned up 100 years ago, but as I said, not the first time this has happened.

So they'll win their gerrymandered districts by 42% instead of 40%. Nyce.

The constitution requires that we have a census every 10 years. It does not prohibit doing it for often. Unfortunately, there is no way the Democrats will get their crap together in time to do this before the election next year.

2021-10-16 12:13:23 AM
That certainly explains why the previous administration wanted to stop the census. They planned to make it look like there was fraud in the election.

"How can twenty million blacks vote when America only has one million blacks?"

I get the feeling that republicans won't stop with this BS until each state has a single voting location that is only open from 8am-9am, and you have to purchase a ticket first. Non-refundable if you don't make it in by 9am, if course.

That means 2 million more black voters than expected.
Maybe enough to flip some gerrymandered districts that were designed to be just red enough to win.

Part of me really wants this obviously botched census to be rerun somehow and all redistricting to be redone based on the new census. The brouhaha over the citizenship question probably meant severe undercounting of Hispanic populations as well, and not just the undocumented or even just first-gen immigrants. There were so many points at which the 2020 census went severely wrong, intentionally.

The part that hurts is that if that did happen, we can be damn sure the next round of Republicans would weaponize the precedent and use it to run another botched census whenever it's convenient to do so.

/This is such bullshiat.

There are many ways in which Census data can be manipulated ornmisrepresentative however when the methodology is deliberatelybchanged, that is a different kettle of fish.  At that point you move from massaging statistics into outright malfeasance.

No, that's notbwhat was at stake.  Among other thingsthough the main one was distribution of house seats.  The 2020 census gave the rather paradoxical effect of showing fewer Republicans overall, yet granting Republican states more house seats than before thus enabling those extra seats to be 'harvested' through redrawing districts.

No, between the infighting in the Democratic party, and the Putin sabotage, there was no other possible outcome.

It was a sham election from the get go.  The moment the Obama administration learned about the Russian meddling, it should have been immediately blasted out to EVERYONE as an act of war.  But, that was a different time, and because of his pigmentation, it would have been seen as partisan.  And we can't be seen as partisan.

Right...so here's how it goes....

Census comes out that was heavily involved in tomfarkery.

Election happens in places where Republicans haven't been able to screw up the voting process.

Election results start getting compared to census results.

Republicans will point to that as definitive proof that election fraud exists and cite further tomfarkery with the voting process in districts where they lost.

Republicans only want democracy if it means that they will always win.

From Article I Section 2
The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years

Ten years is the max, not the min. However, I agree with you. "It's unconstitutional" would the exact message bleated out.

Not counting all the people is unconstitutional. The ten your count has not been done yet, because it is not complete.

We need a new census done. It's that simple. Between TFG intentionally farking it up to hurt minorities and a pandemic that's removed >700k* people we don't have an accurate picture of our population.

*that number is likely in the 1.1 to 1.2 million range
