You got me, thought it was going to be about the My Pillow guy. The greenlit tab on mobile can be fun!

Thanks for all those movies, Mr.Caine, enjoy your retirement.

He cited several reasons, including a "spine problem which affects [his] legs,"

Huh, didn't know about that, but I noticed for a few years (since at least Kingsman) he would maybe get one scene where he's standing and the rest he was always sitting down.

[Micheal Caine on Jaws: The Revenge (1987)] I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific.

We all get old. I've known a lot of people who I perceived as "Hanging on too long". Eventually a switch flips and it's just time time retire. I love Michael Caine's films.

What a great movie to watch with the volume muted on HBO so your parents wouldn't wake up while asleep on the couch.

I recall Mike Myers talking about working with Caine. All Myers had to to was name an actor and Caine would have a great story except for one.

All Caine would say was "Total bastard"

"That's it?"

"That's it. He's a total bastard and I don't care who knows about it"

Myers wouldn't say who, but I'm thinking it was Connery

Well, it's a sure beat he'll be staying away from public restrooms while wearing suede shoes....

For those unaware...

He tells a story about meeting John Wayne and asking for acting advice. The Duke replied "Never wear suede shoes in public." Caine asked him to elaborate. Apparently, one time Wayne was in a public restroom, using the urinal. The guy next to him does a double-take then turns around and exclaims 'Hey! You're John Wayne!'. Mid-stream, so to speak. And the splash hit Wayne's new pair of suede shoes.

Get Carter
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

I don't think I've heard Caine speak without his cockney accent so I'm not sure that would've worked. I guess Connery played a Russian with a lisping Scottish accent so who knows?

When I was young, I thought retirement was awesome.  Maybe it still is, if you have a job you hate but pays well enough you can retire by middle age.

But retiring when you're almost 90 and have what to most people is a pile of gold that Smaug would drool over?  That's not retiring to relax, that's retiring because you're no longer able to do what you enjoy.  It's the beginning of the end, and that sucks.

I switched careers rather late in life so I'll probably work until I collapse but then I can't imagine retirement being anything but boring unless I was a multi-millionaire who could travel the world forever.

That's some fine reporting work there Lou.

From what I've read around the web, Caine himself caused the confusion.
At his age, it's ok and forgiven.
And that line wasn't there earlier.
