I wonder why.  Here's a short list of things lawyers do and don't like.

Like: Getting paid
Don't like:  Clients who lie to them, clients who don't follow their advice/instructions, being disbarred

Good luck with that.

That is about the best he is going to get and generally Federal Courts are sticklers about how filings are done and by whom.

Interesting that they went to John "Torture Boy" Yoo for quotes.

They can even overlook a lot of those don't likes, as long as the getting paid part works just fine.

Yeah - mostly.  I think the "getting disbarred" part is kind of a non-starter generally, though.

F*ck. I need a shower.

Damn.

Yoo probably considers spending time with Donnie to be torture.

Most of them won't be disbarred.

Having to pay sanctions &/or getting booted from working on out of state litigation, though?

VERY possible, & tends to devalue the firm.

Why does Trump need lawyers?  The worst that's going to happen is they'll uncover a bunch of documents that say "I ordered 1/6 and tried to overthrow the government so I could be elected king for life"

At that point there are two camps in America: those of us who go "Yes, we know" and those that say "Hell yea!  Do it again!".  The only thing that might help is if the DOJ convicts him of a felony and sticks him in jail.

The DOJ will not stick Trump in jail

I am genuinely curious how much Obama has had to post presidential executive level stuff.

I'd imagine none. The howls of indignation if Obama tried to hide stuff from his presidency would be heard on Jupiter.

2021-10-13 11:23:27 PM
Trump can't find any lawyers to represent him, and nobody's going to charge him anyway.

2021-10-13 11:24:02 PM
I think any lawyer will be asking for cash payment up front before doing anything

Raoul Eaton: Interesting that they went to John "Torture Boy" Yoo for quotes.

Yeah, I would say a paraphrase of Tony Curtis would apply:

Trump: "I've been called lousy by better men than John Yoo."

But I'm trying to count the number worse than John Yoo.

2021-10-13 11:26:19 PM
The Biden justice department should bring back John Yoo to whip up a nice tight legal brief to justify torturing confessions out of Trump and all of his associates. Ahem, oops sorry not torture, waterboarding. Wait ah what was it now.
Fratboy hazing. Totally not torture though.

Here is the problem.  Trump already used "Executive privilege" while President to obstruct justice.  Now he is trying to argue that the incumbent President does not have executive privilege.. that he used while President, and his privilege continues even when TFG is no longer President

or TFG is trying to convince the Justice system he is still President

Trump said in a statement that he had never asked the four lawyers who turned him down, including Burck, for help. "I don't even know who they are, they are just looking to get publicity," the ex-President said.

Classic Trump. At least he didn't call them coffee boys.

I'm certain the lawyer will call back after Trump stands his ground, fights all the other Republicans, wins, tells Putin "you're next" and pulls a hard left U turn.

Cmon Trump, tell everyone how Amy Barrett gave you a blow job!

You have to keep in mind, Trump think a lawyer doing a "good job" is breaking laws on his behalf.

Nope. If he goes down he goes down. There is still the turtle and his ilk, Manchin and his ilk, DeathSantis and his ilk, the state AGs, the new school boards people, all the rest and they ain't goin' away soon.

"Justice for Ashli Babbitt"

Charge every farker involved with the murder like any other crime resulting in murder.
Why are these guys getting "15 to 45 days" when they should be charged with her murder?
And seriously, give Michael Byrd the CMH.

Some go-to attorneys have been spooked by Trump's reputation for sometimes not paying as a client, according to several people familiar with conservative legal circles. Others watched closely as lawyers fled Trump's prior teams, frustrated by him as a client or facing their own ethical predicaments. Others still want themselves and their firms to stay far away from Trump's insistence that the election was stolen.

Mind-bending.    I can see how  these people graduated from law school.

I have a person on my Facebook feed that has a degree in biology and swears that the vaccines change your DNA, cause unvaccinated people to catch covid from vaccinated people, thinks the vaccine gives you HIV and cancer.

Having a degree doesn't make you an expert or even remotely competent in your area of study.
