A year ago at this time, I bought up TP 1 package/trip to store until I had a 5 year supply.

My girlfriend has shown I only had a 9 month supply and need to stock back up again.

Was just watching a biden news brief  where he was going to open up the shipping docks 24/7

Part of me thinks why dont they do this already

Other part thinks your going to tell people with cushy 9 to 5.... off on weekends..... people now they have to work 12 hour shift work?
Good luck with that.

Not the job, which i agree is hell, but the hours i was referring to. NOBODY wants to work shiftwork.

So. UK Government says "we have plenty of gas, no need to panic."

UK panics and buys all the gasoline.

Then the UK Government says "we have plenty of things for Christmas"

And yet someone people are surprised at what happened next?

Drew should get a story in the Daily Fail saying "We have plenty of TotalFark memberships, no need to panic!"

RTOGUY: I wish people would stop acting like a lack of Christmas gifts is a crisis.

Baby Jesus visits every house on Earth on the eve of His birthday and rummages through the loot piled under the tree. If He doesn't find something He likes, the household will suffer at least one major misfortune in the upcoming year. Sometimes He finds something acceptable but not delightful, and inflicts a minor curse. Only families who present Him with highly desired items can expect to prosper.

If enough people fail to placate Him, He will smite an entire region, nation, or the world.

Nobody can reliably predict what strikes His fancy from year to year, so it is important to acquire a vast assortment of sumptuous goods.

And that, my friends, is the *real* meaning of Christmas.

Jews don't do the Christmas thing, and see all the stuff that's happened to them over the millennia? Study it out.

As someone who actually lives here and was in a supermarket only half an hour ago, what panic buying?

The petrol "crisis" is long over, haven't seen a single queue for a week now, and there's no sign of panic buying for food. There are concerns for supplies of some stuff but, as many other Fark articles make clear, this is happening around the world, including the US and Europe.

This is exactly what someone who is panic buying and trying to dissuade others from grabbing stuff he plans to hoard himself would say.

That's going to make some happy kiddos in the UK.

Parents panic buying loads of gifts.

There has to be a way to make money at this. What do UK parents buy their kids for Christmas?

We did this in the US with the pipeline shutdown. I warned my fellow union members on the east coast: "Fill your cars with fuel. You work a job that will fire you for saying you can't come to work because you can't get fuel for your car."

Government said nothing to see here, plenty of gas to go around, don't panic buy, yada yada. And what happened? Fuel stations running empty.

For premium pay they do. My grandfather worked nights at the railroad for 36 years. My dad worked nights at Firestone for 24 years.

First all federal employees need to be vaccinated.

Soon they'll all need commercial drivers licenses.

And if you really do your research they'll take theirs guns around step 15.

For my grandfather I think it was 25% (strong union for that). For my dad I think it was 15%.

My grandfather had zero problems with it. Literally zero problems.

He could wake up in afternoon/evening and have dinner with his three daughters. He could see them to bed. He went to work, worked overnight, and was home first thing in the morning to have breakfast with his daughters and see them off to school before he went to sleep.

I cant
Its like you never adjust
Soon as you get used to being up all night like a vampire...Bam.. back to days.
Soon as your used to being awake when the sun is up, back to nights.
And all those holidays regular workers get to be with your family?   forget it ....even if its on a weekend.
All days are created equal when your a shift worker.

There's filling your tanks and there's buying so much gasoline that you cause the panic.

At least you didn't Florida and fill up garbage bags.

Oh, and the government was right. There was plenty of gas. The pipeline company just refused to transport fuel.

For the record, I did tell people to beg, borrow, and steal every lawn mower can they could and fill those as well.

Seriously, we have such a shiat ass job that we'd get disciplined if we couldn't come to work because of a fuel shortage.

I did not tell people to fill garbage bags, Tupperware containers, or any of the other assorted bad ideas.
