Sounds steamy.

In other news, royals have the same rights as commoners.

So, is she coming out at her coming out? I gotta know, this is very important to me!

And the Danish Queen Margrethe is now a set designer for Netflix.  What's unusual is that she is 81.

She's thhhhicc.   Mmmmm.

2021-10-13 11:31:54 AM
Wow, that's a whole lot of nothing. No mention is made of her actual personal life, no mention of any girlfriend/boyfriend in situ, just a question asked in parliament if there would be any legal recourse should she wish to start a relationship with another girl.

Something something Tweek/Craig

I can't speak to current norms, but historically, the Dutch have been extremely nosey neighbors - and used social shaming to keep everyone in line.  Part of the reason for the tulip craze was that while wearing clothes that your social status didn't allow you to was met with public shaming or even criminal charges, criticizing your choice of flowers was considered off limits.  There were other reason that might have been more central to the issue, but if your clothes and food options were codified to within a Planck length by your social status, but you could grow whatever you wanted in a window box, you are going to use that window box to flaunt it like a hooker on Sunset Boulevard.  And part of the "We deserve to slut shame you for wearing too big buckles or having furniture made from wood forbidden to your station" outlook was that privacy for your house was not really a thing.  Blocking anyone from looking into your house almost at will was prima facie evidence you were running a whorehouse/drug den/Catholic prayer meeting.  I could see how that might be retained as a cultural idea that dirty windows made you suspect, even if the underlying reason had lapsed long ago.

BitwiseShift: And the Danish Queen Margrethe is now a set designer for Netflix.  What's unusual is that she is 81.

Although, per her Wikipedia page, she's a pretty accomplished artist and has been for decades.  For example, she did the illustrations for the Danish edition of "Lord of the Rings" back in the 1970s under a pseudonym (and apparently Tolkien himself was a big fan of them).  So I guess that makes it a bit less unusual.

It's a way to clarify the issue before it becomes an actual political/legal problem.  That she may be a strict sausage stuffer is irrelevant to getting an answer to the political/legal issue.  Or, maybe she at least is open to that sort of thing, and this is a way to normalize it before she brings any girls over to the palace at the end of a term.  Alternately, it could be that it was brought up, everyone has a nice panic, then she brings home some strapping he-man, and everyone forgets about it until three generations down the line a descendent is a lesbian and everyone goes "Well, it is tradition now"

I'm German and we do they same thing . Even with this exact brand of sprinkles . I wonder if my grandparents picked that up when they went on holiday with their kids in the 1950s and 60s . They always went to the same location and met other regular vacationers there  . One was a dutch family they became close friends with

> The prime minister said that it was purely theoretical at this stage but it would be up to parliament, which has to give approval to a royal marriage. "Let's cross that bridge if we come to it"

Cowards and assholes in your parliament that won't answer this question in advance of it becoming a point of concern.

Way to tell a youth that their feelings don't matter.

Well, we've had a distinct lack of blatantly out monarchs in history, it might be nice to have a queer queen before we eliminate monarchy entirely.

/I'm bi so I'd be a groundbreaking monarch

Although the cabinet makes it clear that same-sex marriage is possible, what is not known is what would happen to the succession if there were children born from a same-sex royal marriage, for example via adoption or a sperm donor.

Aristocratic families adopting and/or legitimizing bastards goes all the way back to the Roman Empire.  I don't see the issue.
