We literally just had a mobster POTUS for four years. The mob is doing just fine, unfortunately, in the modern age.

2021-10-05 7:44:57 PM
The alleged management problems of the Colombo leader seem to mirror those of Tony Soprano, the fictional boss of the television mafia who struggled to choose a successor and keep his hands off the dirty work.

On the Sopranos, apparently nobody could pick a successor... not Jackie Aprile, and not Carmine Lupertazzi. Those two failures pretty much set all the major plots in motion.

If that's what passes for a mobster these days then those millennials really have destroyed things.

Boomer Mob bosses.

It's not just the mob though. Look at the piles of evidence that the January 6th crowd generated, without any prodding, just by social media and selfies. Look at Congressmen who have zero idea how to keep a secret on social media, or any electronic form. The thought seems to be, "well, if they don't have my password, then how can they even SEE what I'm doing," which is great if you're a prosecutor.

I, for one, welcome our bungling crime lords as they will weed out the incompetent and bunglers.

"In hindsight, Russo's executive mistakes included micromanaging subordinates and, at 87, hanging on to his job too long, said Scott Curtis, a former agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation"

They clearly know about all the shiat they'll have to endure in retirement.

Hmmm, according to TFA, the mob is still suffering from being prosecuted so heavily in the 80s & 90s.  That might be true for the Italian organized crime families.  I vaguely remember some dude with an Italian name that basically turned a blind eye to Russian mobs while making his name in NYC politics by using family tips and ties to prosecute the mob back then.

Whatever happened to that guy?  It was Rudy something or other.

The mob in the USA is dead. I've read tons of true crime books and websites. It was all but eradicated in the 90's. What's left if nothing but pretenders who barely amuse the bosses of Sicily and Italy. I know the USA loves our mob movies and whatnot, but the vast network that existed from the 20's through the 90's is belly up.

You might want to think about who controls the garbage, a huge amount of real estate and all the tanning salons, gold buying, strip malls that have no real bis going on that are used for money laundering  on the East Coast.  Here in Jersey, they are a dime a dozen, they open and close as the season goes ... just with different names.

I wonder if this union shakedown they're talking about has anything to do with the FBI raid on a NYPD union yesterday.

So, just had an article about the FBI raiding a NYC police union, and now in this article, they mention extorting money from a NYC union.  Is this the same union, or a different one?

I also wonder just how stupid some people can be.  They text or tweet all of these things that are quite obviously incriminating evidence, and just figure that no one will ever look?  Just like Jan. 6th.  Why the hell would you take photos of yourself doing it, and then post them on social media?  Every one of them deserves jail time just for being that farking stupid, on top of everything else.

The mob in the US isn't dead, it just speaks Russian.  Ukrainians have replaced Italians, they're a bit less cohesive overall, but they're most certainly there.  Mostly because they understand how the world works now a lot better than the goombas in the US do.  Crime is all management and hiring disposable assholes for gig work to do the heavy lifting.  Just like everything else
