For some reason I confuse Bill with Thomas Hayden Church, even though they look nothing alike.

Probably one of the most loathsome character on Oz.

Remember the show Coach? The one with the 'welfare never helped me, even when I was on unemployment' guy?

Man, that show sucked.

They played the same dumb guy on 90's sitcoms with a single five-letter word as titles...

It was a good product of its time, IMO.  Jerry Van Dyke was always good for a laugh.

And not knowing Craig T Nelson was such a schmuck back then, I was able to enjoy it more than I would today.

I don't know why this always stuck with me. But waaaay back in Coach's last season or so Entertainment Weekly, in their "what's on this week" section, just had "Who cares?" under their description of what was happening on Coach.

A few weeks later they published a letter in the letters section from a very angry "Coach" fan who was aghast at the slight to the show "Coach" and its many fans

I don't know, I thought it was funny. Both parts

And I used to watch Coach occasionally too and remember enjoying it, but I was about 12 or so

Can't be certain, but I have a fuzzy memory of the last season or two of Coach going off the rails and sucking kinda hard, so I sympathize with the TV Guide writer.
