Depends on what you call the birth.

Does a Cinderella story start after it's over or when it started?

The birth of this one really came in week 3 of the NFL season of 2001. If you recall they delayed all games by a week in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

So yes...it started this week 20 years ago. Not even just this month.

An alternative headline could be "20 years ago this October, Drew Bledsoe got hurt".

20 years ago this month, Mo Lewis f*cked Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Russel Wilson, and propelled Eli Manning to the Hall of Fame.

Which makes me wonder how many players in any sport have played the Wally Pipp role twice.

Bill: "Then Lou Gehrig started like, whatever it was, 23,000 straight games"

A. That would take 141 years.
B. Why use Wally Pipp reference when you have a Bledsoe/Brady reference ON YOUR OWN TEAM?
