"Our country's public square has become increasingly controlled by a few powerful companies that have proved to be flawed arbiters of constructive dialogue,"

We're talking about TFG's emails here. Go sit in the corner.

I sincerely hope there's a test case being set up right now to get this thing 86'd.

I can't even see the current SCOTUS letting it stand.

As this is only a Texas law, how would it even be enforceable? Most people use web based email, does Gmail and other email services even know what state a user lives in? And if so, they could easily change that in the settings, so what is the point of any of this?

So, does this allow us to sue the all for harassment? Especially TFG and his campaign of we get his emails?

Honestly, I do think this was an accident. However, I think the Texas GOP would view this as a happy accident.

Criminalizing spam filters, enables:
- malware & phishing attacks
- lost productivity
- adversarial propaganda

Criminalizing protection enables harm.

I think about lacing up some spiked shoes and doing a Riverdance upon the genitalia of spammers every day.

If Abbott has WaPo in his back pocket, expect more than just spam.  He's an intellectual powerhouse.

People who have no grasp of technology writing laws which govern it.

In fairness, they also don't have a grasp on laws or writing.

It seems like there are a lot of dems who would be gladly willing to surrender their civil liberties to avoid something as benign as a little bit of spam.

Republicans want to nationalize reddit and Facebook, but only for those supporting both Russian financed and domestic terrorism.

Yes. Abbot and his ilk would love to be like the CCP and dictate everything while keeping corruption in place.

Bingo. The only thing American right-wing nationalists disliked about the USSR was that it wasn't them in control.

Just set up your filters to fwd anything flagged as spam to the governor and everyone who approved this law.

I'm sure after receiving several thousand offers for V!@gr@ every hour they might realize just how stupid they are.
